Not a bad case but not a great one.

Bought the Commuter while waiting on my replacement Defender case. I like the slimness and lightweight design. However it does not seem to fit my White 4s correctly, Otterbox sent me a replacement, that one does not fit either. One side does not lay flat. I may just cut losses and stick with the Defender case.
Pros: High quality, Durable

I bought this case in June and liked it at first. The first one lasted until about October until it cracked on the back. I contacted Otterbox and they sent me a new one. The second one cracked in the exact same spot. The second time it happened when I was taking the case off (the first time since I put it on). Needless to say, I'm never buying an Otterbox again.
Cons: Not durable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

FINALLY! AMAZING CASE

Ok i reviewed the iPhone 4 Commuter Case and I'm sorry but it was horrible. Finally with this case for the iPhone 4S, its just amazing, strong, good quality materials. Thank you OtterBox for listening and redesigning the commuter case!

I actually had two of these cases -- one for myself and one for my daughter. The outer shell of my daughter's case cracked within a month -- it had not been dropped; the case had only been taken off and on a few times. From what I assume was a result of the case being cracked, when the phone was dropped from about 3 feet, both the front and back of the phone shattered.
My case held up better, but because of the design -- the outer shell has two clamp-like clips that hold the soft inner shell onto the phone in the middle -- the shell started to take on the shape of an hourglass. While it probably didn't affect the protection that the case offered, its appearance really started to become a distraction, so I replaced that case with another brand.
Given the price of the product and my relatively positive experience with an Otterbox 3GS case, I expected far more.
Cons: Low quality, Not durable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great balance of protection and looks

I had previously had a Defender series case on my old Android phone, but when I made the switch to the iPhone 4S, I wanted a case that could offer a similar level of protection while still letting the asthetics of the 4S show through, and this case does that in spades. The hard plastic backing protects the phone and lets it slip in and out of a pocket, while not being the bulky Indestructo case of the Defender. A great product and the all black looks SHARP!

Unvelievable protection, but...

I love this case for the protection it offers. I've dropped my iPhone numerous times (including three times on concrete) and it doesn't have a scratch, thanks to the Commuter. I love that all of the ports are covered, and there is enough of a "lip" around the screen, that even when my phone has fallen screen down, there is no damage. There are some minor fit issues with the hard plastic fitting on to the silicone piece. Mine doesn't match up perfectly, but it's not too bad and doesn't bother me much. If you are a perfectionist about fit, look for a different case.
I have had three different versions of this case. The first was pink with white silicone. The white silicone gets completely disgusting and there is no way to clean it. (This is not true of the iPhone 4 case, but the silicone was changed to a different type with the 4S case and that material gets dirty quickly.) I contacted OtterBox and they sent me a replacement case of a different color very quickly. This time, the hard, outer shell cracked at the top and bottom after a couple of weeks. Again, OtterBox replaced it quickly and without any hassle. I haven't had any issues with the third case.
I highly recommend the case for protection...just don't get a light colored silicone.
Pros: Durable, outstanding customer service
Cons: light colored silicone gets really dirty., minor "fit" issues

Pink & White Commuter Series

I've been an otterbox user ever since i've owned an iphone (I'm now on my 3rd one) I originally had the Defender Series, but it became too bulky for me and the silicone started to stretch, so I decided to get the Commuter Series. It's an amazing balance between sleekness and protection. Although I ordered the pink & white strength series, and when it came in the mail the color wasn't as deep as I envisioned it while ordering it. (that was a slight bummer, because it's actually lighter) and the White silicone got dirty within a week (and mind you, I like to keep my things clean) There's no way to clean it either! I continuously recommended the commuter series to my friends, with the only downfall that the white silicone WILL get dirty within a matter of days. Before purchasing online, I suggest you go to a retail store and look at the colors before ordering (it's a bit cheaper online)
