3rd exchange and broken again within warranty!

I have had my otterbox since i got my iphone 4 in june of 2011. the original one broke in November 2011. I had it quickly replaced by the customer service team. the next one broke within the week of getting it. i am a regular college student; i keep my phone in my back pocket and rarely drop it. i do not sit on my phone! The otterbox brand has protected my iphone but the commuter series is not strong enough for me. I will be checking for another series to see if it is just this type of cover, or if all otterbox products are cheaply made.
Pros: good for white iphones (shows color)
Cons: Low quality, Not durable

i am fine with my case. the top plastic does not fit snugly with the silicone. no matter how hard i try, it will not fit right. very disappointed.

Breaks Oftenin Same Place -Poor design

I have returned two of the Commuter Otterboxes back to Otterbox. They have broken in the same location on the front above the Plug-in - small piece of plastic that cannot take any stress...
Cons: Low quality

Broke after 7 months

I love my iPhone and i am really careful with it. I chose OtterBox to protect it because it looked as it would protect it very well. I was really satisfied with the case until it broke about 7 months after I bought it. I was always careful not to drop or mistreat the case/phone in any way. My husband's OtterBox case also broke almost two months after mine in the same spot that mine did--in the back of the hard part of the case by the charger opening. This case is way too expensive to be replacing it so often. Now my phone is protected only by the soft silicone part of the case until I purchase a different case.
Pros: nice looking
Cons: Low quality, Not durable

I purchased the "updated" commuter case for my new iPhone 4s, after doing quite a bit of research on cases and reading several positive reviews from owners of previous Commuter versions. But like many of the other reviews here, I found that the case was overall a disappointment, especially in the fit and quality.
From my experience, I can also attest to the sharp edges, the poor fits where the silicone and plastic shell meet, and the failure of the covers to stay snugly in place (namely the port cover on the bottom of the phone). It is especially uncomfortable to hold the phone to my ear because of the poor fit & sharp edges at the top. I should add that I have removed and replaced my Commuter case on my phone several times, first to make sure that I had indeed installed it correctly, and second, in hopes that the process would "break in" my case and help it to fit better. It has not.
To be fair, I can say that the silicone has not attracted lint, and the phone easily slides in and out of my pocket. And despite my earlier complaints, I do feel that my phone is protected pretty well. It is just not a "comfortable" protection. I believe the overall idea for the Commuter design is good, but the quality issues need to be resolved, especially for the price point of the product.

Great protection, but stay away from the yellow!

Just like the other Otterbox cases I've owned, the protection of this case is hard to beat. I fell in love with the yellow/gray model but steer clear! From just one week of use, the yellow part is absolutely DISGUSTING and no amount of cleaning will restore it to the cool color it started as. Wish I would have gone with the plain black.
Pros: High quality, Durable, perfect fit to the phone
Cons: yellow model gets very dirty looking

Definitely not as good as the 3GS Commuter Case...

I had and loved the Commuter case for the 3GS. The color selections were better, the silicone sleeve was manufactured better and the hard cover was thicker . Fitment on that case was superb.
Fast forward to the 4S case and what I was expecting was a lot different than what I got. The silicone sleeve has this annoying nipple on it and the thickness is somewhat inconsistent in areas. I hate how the silicone cover no longer inserts into the mini-jack port and the charger port. It's now just a poor fit in those areas. The plastic outer shell is available in the ugliest colors for the 4/4S (miss the neon green of my 3GS case that was so easy to locate where I put my phone down last). Maybe the colors aren't something I should be knocking it for, but I am. The final part is that the fitment of the outer shell. It doesn't line up with the sleeve at the bottom and it's a thinner material than that found on the 3GS commuter series case (used a micrometer). I'm overall very disappointed with the 4S commuter series case that I waited entirely too long for. It hasn't lived up to my expectations at all. I wish I could give this a better rating but every time I grab my phone I'm disappointed. Companies should stop trying to skimp on the quality/materials and save a buck. I would have gladly paid an additional $5 if it meant I would be getting a case that was as good as if not better than the 3GS Commuter series case.

White is dirty and won't clean up!

I like the Commuter for my new 4S. I haven't experienced the problem with quality and fit. I had a Commuter for 3GS and it wasn't as fitted as the new one is. I like that the edges cover the edges of screen protector and I think the screen protector is less noticeable and will last longer. I chose the purple/white and after having it about a month, the white is dirty or stained and won't clean with hand sanitizer as my old one would. Just disappointed in that and when checking reviews, I read that at least one reviewer has same complaint.
Pros: High quality, Durable, well made
Cons: white won't clean
