I have the Night Blue Commuter case. I would say that it is both highly protective and fashionably designed. I've dropped the case from about table height distance several times and I can safely say that the case protects the phone very nicely.
I did need to get a replacement case about after about 4 months because the thinnest part of the case broke, but even with this damage the phone was well protected. Thanks to the service of Otterbox I have a new and awesome case installed to protect my phone!

I love my commuter case, it keeps my Iphone protected. The white parts that hide the buttons and openings tends to get dirty quick and is hard to clean. Great customer support for the case.

I have a 4 and 7 year old who like to use and drop my phone. As well as being a professional and busy mom, I too have dropped my phone. The Otterbox is strong and fits my needs. The outer shell cracked at the bottom and I sent it back to otterbox for replacement at no charge! It protected my phone very well - no cracks, no scratches, no dings. I like a company that makes a good product and stands behind it. I am a fan and highly recommend otterbox to my friends and family!

So this is for the Commuter, not the Defender. Its a pretty strong case, I've definitely dropped the phone (and had my toddler smash it into the floor) with no damage to the phone. However, removing the case from the iPhone repeatedly can lead to the plastic shell cracking in some places. This has happened twice Good thing Otterbox customer support is awesome because they were quick to replace both times.

My commuter case is PERFECT. I'm really hard on my stuff, and iPhones are so expensive, you really don't want to take risks. It fits in my pocket (and yes, I wear women's pants with the tiny pockets), safe in my backpack, and I've never had any damage to my phone if and when I end up dropping it. On top of that, Otterbox really does have fantastic customer service.
