The commuter series is provides excellent protection for cell phones from the occassional drop. I have had my phone for 3 years and it looks like new, as I have had the case on it. The one down fall is that the design for the charging cord plug in. It cracks off after continual use.
Pros: High quality, Durable
Cons: docking port durability

I accidently left my phone, face down on top of my car then drove on busy city streets, 30 miles on a busy highway at 100+km per hour, more busy streets etc. When I stopped I discovered it still on the roof of my car. The OtterBox rubber surround had created a suction and kept my phone in place through it all. It has since been dropped lots, used by a toddler as a teething tool and countless other activities which would have otherwise destroyed my phone. When it finally got a crack in the bottom corner I filled out the forms for a free replacement and a short time later a brand new OtterBox was in my mailbox. I LOVE this product !!! OtterBox you rock!!

I bought my first iphone 4 years ago and spent a lot of money which I didn't have but I needed it for work.....I was so nervous of it gettting wreaked so the sales person said otter boxes were the best...so again I spent more money for a case than the cheap kios cases you can purchase.....I work on cement floors and have dropped my phone many many times and it still looks brand new...my otter box has been replaced 3 times FREE of charge from otter box......best !!!! protection for your phone.

Not up to my Otterbox expectations

I have been an Otterbox customer for a few years now, having purchased a case for my iPhone 3g and my iPad 2. Both were/are great, especially the iPhone case, fit like a glove and felt great in your hand. Sadly, I cannot say the same for the Commuter iPhone 4s case. It seems like it was hastily put together. The speaker holes at the bottom of the case are asymmetrical and do not match the phone, there is a sharp edge on the upper back side of the plastic shell, the flap for the plugin at the bottom will not close all the way and the worst part of all-- the power button on top. I have to actually grip the phone or hold it with 2 hands in order to push the button down. Without the case, it takes nothing more than a casual flick. One pro for this case; I do feel confident in the overall durability and protection. Right now, I am very disappointed, and I definitely would not recommend this case.

Cons: Low quality, plugins do not match up, functionality takes a backseat to durability

Great Case except for Cheap plastic!

Well I am an Otterbox customer from the original Blackberry Tour Commuter series case which was on my previous phone for 2 years and that handled tons of drops and falls without an issue for that long period of time. I then purchased this case in Iceberg for my iPhone 4S White. The color scheme looks amazing and the rubber fully encases the phone with the nice blue plastic case to go over.
The issue I have with the case is that only after 2 months the top right/left corners of the hard plastic have cracked and fell off. It seems like compared to older designs the plastic quality has significantly declined in Otter cases.
I called customer support which had no wait time to get to a representative. I explained the situation with the case and they were more than happy to provide me with a replacement piece.
I have provided a photo to show others what this looks like.
Pros: Durable
Cons: Low quality

Doesn't Fit Right (don't buy)

I'm really disappointed in this case. The softshell doesn't fit the phone snug and doesn't line up with the hard shell. I won't be using this case. I was a huge fan of Otter Box but have had two bad experiences now (sharp edges on Commuter for iPhone 4 and now more disappointment with version for iPhone 4S).
Cons: Low quality, poor fit
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
