[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] HP wouldn't let me use a no name bargain ink cartridge I bought so I have no way of comparing this product. Claims to be long lasting, we shall see or not.

We usually buy the HP 902XL High Yield Black Ink Cartridge. It was out stock, but while searching, came across this other option for our printer - the HP 906XL High Yield Black Ink Cartridge. The "902XL" prints ~825 pages; the "906XL" printer ~1,500 pages. We had not known about the "906XL" and are very pleased with it!! We will definitely order this one again.
I have had buying HP ink over the past year. I order ink and when it arrives the cartage is less than full. I have been looking for a new printer, but needed to do some emergency printing, so I ordered a new black cartage with over night shipping. Shortly after I received the ink, I opened the carton, then the internal plastic container. and when I pulled the orange tab to open the ink, Black ink got all over my hands, clothes and floor. This has happened to me before, but not again. I just bought a new Cannon Printer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi,
I'm sorry that this happened. Discovering the cartridge is leaking must be truly awful.
You must carefully unwrap this type of cartridge. While leaking is more common with refills, it can also happen with a damaged or defective cartridge.
A vent near the cartridge label will normally be opened when the tab is pulled completely loose, and the outer plastic covering is removed from around the cartridge. It is important that the vent is open to prevent the cartridge from leaking, particularly when you twist off the orange tab prior to installing the cartridge.
On defective and remanufactured cartridges, you might have to clear the vent with a straight pin to keep it from leaking.
I helped my wife put together a class reunion party and printed out class newsletters and recipe booklets. When we had finished with this project, the ink and printer had done an excellent job. The black and color cartridges I used were perfect for the job I had done.
