Hi Antony,
I am sorry that the cartridge that you got for your printer isn't printing very well. I would normally suspect the print settings or quality of the paper before the ink.
Also, there is a possibility that your printhead needs to be cleaned. Your printer should have an automatic routine to do that on the printer's menu.
If that helps, the printer might have been turned off using a power strip or switch. The power button on the printer itself should always be used to turn it off. That will let the printer 'park' so that the printhead is protected from excess drying. That can cause clogs to form in the tiny nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper.
