I bought this around 30 days ago and hate it. It's noisy on high. It does not kick on and off when humidity level is set.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

After receiving two Holmes humidifiers that did not work, ie., the humidistats did not work, this unit is amazing! Though a bit large for our retirement apartment, it does a wonderful job maintaining the set humidity level. Further, the large capacity tanks are wonderful. I feel that you went overboard to accommodate us. Thank you! Vertn Lund

Does not show humidity level or percentage of room, like it's supposed to.
This has been an ongoing problem, even with the previous model. Come on Holmes... Fix it already! Otherwise, it's a decent humidifier...
I would recommend this to a friend!

Poor Quality Product

For many years I had the Bionaire W7 humidifier which was a well built, sturdy & a very efficient product. When it recently broke after 15 years I replaced it with this substandard humidifier. It is a flimsy machine & didn't work properly. I was issued a credit from Holmes.

Disappointed

From the start the humidity control did not work.. Humidifier is constantly on regardless of the settings.
Also the filter is expensive and requires replacement often.
High speed sounds like a jet plane.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Internal humidistat doesn't work

I bought this unit for the auto on off feature. I want to be able to set the humidity at a certain % and forget it, but it won't turn on even 20% lower than the setting I have it at.
