Totally happy

I can't think of any way this charger could be more efficient. It will charge up to 4 AA or AAA batteries in 8 hours or less. I have had it for more than 3 years with no problems. Inexpensive and efficient. Very happy with the quality.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is just to offer some advice.

I see quite a few reviews on here complaining that the product doesn't work. To those people I would like to point out something that could have been adressed in the replies by Rayovac themselves but for some reason was not. When charging batteries they must be charged 2 or 4 at a time, and when charged in pairs you must put them next to each other or there will be no connection to the circuit and they will not charge.
As for my opinion on the product it's self. The charger works fine, and so do the batteries. But the claims on the batteries lasting longer than normal batteries is a bit of stretch as they last about 2 weeks in my wireless mouse, which is about the standard from the life of batteries in the device.

Worked great for about 6 months.

This product worked very well for 5-6 months. However, when I try to recharge the batteries now, the charging unit's LCD display just blinks rapidly and does not charge the batteries.

No mAH rating on package.

These Rayovac rechargeable batteries are NOT a good value for the money. They do not last long enough before needing to be recharged due to the low mah rating (which is not given anywhere on the package!). I looked. Better to buy some batteries with a higher mah rating on the package I think.

lousy when you have three batteries

i have one item that i need to charge from time to time and it takes three batteries. i replaced a charger with this one when buying some batteries, and of course, the charger needs two or four batteries so they will charge, not three. this is not good. the charger i replaced could charge any number of batteries, even one battery at a time. this really does not lend itself to being able to do what you need it to.

BASIC MISTAKE

To anyone who finds that this charger will not work straight out of the package, you should look in the battery hold compartment, where you snap the batteries in to charge them. When your charger and batteries were packaged, the factory put a CLEAR PLASTIC STRIP between the positive nub of the batteries and the charger metal contact, so the batteries will not drain or otherwise engage power while they are just sitting in the store on the rack. just remove this clear plastic strip (it is not glued in or anything), and your charger will light up and charge your batteries.
So after this false start mine is now plugged in, lit up and charging some older NiMH batteries.
But I do agree, there is no explanation about the blue lights, I am guessing they will change to green when the batteries are charged up.

Charger Does Not Turn Off/Batteries Do Not Charge
on April 16, 2018

I used this charger for the first time yesterday. After charging the batteries for 12 hours(!) the battery charger light did not go off. The manual says to charge for 8, but the light remained lit, not indicating a full charge. Removed the batteries and inserted them into LED lighting fixtures, and they were dead! I am now reluctant to continue to use this charger, since I cannot tell if it is charging or turning off, and I am fearful of overheating batteries and/or fire. Very disappointed!!

Good batteries and last a long time

I used these a few years ago for camera flashes; each flash used four (4) batteries. The flash recycled within manufacturer's specs and last as long or longer than regular alkaline batteries.
One draw back is they must be fully charge during a full 17-hour charging time. Using a one-hour (1-hr) charger, they test in a battery tester as fully charged, but do not stand the test of time and use on a one-hour charge. I figured on a one-hour charge, they last 50% to 75% of being charged for 17 hours. So if you need daily charged and turn around time, you must purchased a second set.
I have found the 17-hr and 1-hr charging results stated to be the same with other manufacturer's batteries. I only found one batteries better, but they are not imported to this country or went out of business and that was in the last 1980s.
I returned to Ray-O-Vac as they were what our family used when I was a child. The yellow dark blue wrapped battery with a leaping cat was a longer time familiar symbol or logo and the yellow made they easy to spot on the shelve. They were good back when . . . and the are much better today. I will swear by them.
