This is a great vessel to use as a cooking agent. With so many accessories too. It's light weight and convenient to carry even when you add accessories to it, and makes cooking with wood more efficient.
Here in Oregon we have to be extra careful about campfires. This is the perfect solution for a contained campfire/stove. It's fun to get the exact mix of swirling air and combustibles to create the little tornado of fire at the top of the canister!
I got an extra one for my daughter who is traveling/camping across the States this year. It packs perfectly inside the KettlePot too!
Reminds me of the Indian adage: "Make small fire, sit close"
Using the Biolite stove for 2 years now with good results, I use it all summer and avoid the gas stove. It cut my gas bill in the summer. I like the portable grill but I would like to have a Pizza oven option. I miss having my pizza in the summer.
This is an awesome little stove, i bought the original (before the charge pack update) and purchased the stove and kettle too. This is awesome on camping trips as i do alot of solo motorcycle camping and this fits right in with my gear, doesnt take up to much room in my bag, and works like a charm.
I will say that the grill may be a bit much to take for solo as it takes up too much room. i prefer just using the stove/kettle combo and cooking using an 8 piece folding pan set. But the grill is prefered when we go camping with the family
This is a cool stove, well made, and uses little fuel (wood sticks). Unlike the other model that creates energy via thermodynamics to run the fan. This model requires a connection to the grid, or solar etc to charge the battery before using.
This new product is great for grilling. I love my Biolite camp stove for many reasons, but when it comes to grilling I believe this new cook stove wins hands down. The adjustable fan settings gives greater temperature control and helps to keep the flames at the perfect level for what ever you might decide to cook on it. I chose to try it out on some burgers and they cooked quickly and came out fully cooked but still juicy. It took only a small amount of small sticks to get the job done and used very little of the power. The power level meter is also a great feature...no worrying if you will run out of power on your trip. As mentioned in other reviews, it came with a half charge and I decided to top it off with a wall charger. I plan to charge it next time from a small solar panel and see how long it take. I also can't wait to hook this up to my camp stove and see how long it takes to charge. This is another great product from BioLite. I hope to see the 4 level adj ustable fan and power level meter integrated into the camp stove sometime in the near future.
This is a quality piece of gear! Each component feels strong and sturdy and the stove is a breeze to setup. It comes with a partial charge and to get it to a full charge doesn't take long at all through using the included USB charger. It also comes with a bag for easy travel.
The fan has four convenient settings for all different uses which allows it to last for multi-day trips. It attaches to the metal stove easily and it is started by pressing in the grey button for a second or two. It comes with a few fire starters which are essential to getting the flame going, and after it started, it was easy to keep it hot. The fan helps with combustion and the four settings allow you to control the flame as desired. Once the stove has started, you can pick it up and move the stove if necessary by grabbing on to the battery pack. I was also able to use my GSI pot to boil water on this as well.
If you are looking for a portable camp stove or an alternative for your gas stove, this is the ticket. It can be fun for the whole family since it is powered by sticks which means everyone can be involved in collecting "firewood".
This is my first BioLite product and I hope to get more in the near future! Great product, even greater mission!
My Grandson and I had an opportunity to do Hot Dogs for lunch. I got the BioLite out with the grill and showed him how to set it up and he helped me start the fire. It was easy and hot in a very short time. We laid the Hot Dogs on and very quickly got the buns ready because it took a very short time for the stove to do its thing and roast those dogs. It was a bite cool with very little wind and this he used the stove to help keep warmer. A great meal and day for a picnic out back.
