Extremely efficient stove & compact. Easy to light & powers up quickly to a full-fledged flame to boil water in less than 5 minutes. A weekend of making coffee & cooking 2 meals per day barely made a dent on the power supply.
Note: I used pellets & did not fill the container to 3/4 full...1/2 was more than sufficient. Just make sure you are setup for each dish ahead of time; one pot comes off, another goes on. I also made sure the power pack was upwind so the flames would not heat up the unit.
Bought the stove last year as part of my hurricane supplies. Broke it out after Irma. I ate well. Eggs and sausages in the morning. Grilled ham and cheese for lunch. Worked with my dutch oven and my frying pan and made a shrimp Pad Thai. A few days later regular power was restored and I had to put it away. Was just starting to have fun. My wife couldn't believe that good food could be cooked on such a small space. Wish this tech was around when I was a Boy Scout 40 years ago.
I conside rmy self some what of an urban nomad.thiis thing is small contained and will burn just about anything.Ive had mine 2weeks and allready have damn near 20 hrs on it.
Wasn't sure how good it would work but got one any how. By far best cook system I have ever used. Small, light and burns hot. Off of one charge I used the battery pack on a week long elk scouting trip and I used it one the second and third fan setting most of the time. Used it for cooking and heating up water to clean my self up with and much much more. This thing worked amazingly. I'll be buying more of the biolight products in the future.
I immediately noticed several things I really liked about the design and functionality of the product. The BioLite Cook Stove delivers on explorers’ desires to have a stove and campfire that is decently light and compact. I read all of the instructions carefully prior to attempting to use the product. If you’re like me, I’m a bit terrified of fire while camping- especially in California due to drought and high-level fire hazards. First, I found a clearing in which was not under any tree limbs or near any bushes- much like one would do in building an old-fashioned campfire- clear of any surroundings to ensure maximum safety. Then, I added one of the included fuel starter pellets and gathered a small, nearby bundle of sticks and added that to the center of the BioLite Cook Stove. I got my lighter and lit the fuel starter for approximately ten seconds and turned the fan on low. Moments later, I had a small campfire and/or heat source to cook over. Later, after about an hour of waiting for the small fire to burn out and turn to ash, I buried the ashes in the dirt and poured water over them to guarantee no flames would arise thereafter.
love my cookstove! Used it for the first time this weekend and I don't have a single complaint. It worked perfectly with the kettle, and packed up nice and small. The charge lasted through the whole long weekend without dropping even one bar.
We tried a variety of different fuels (kindling/twigs, instant fire packs, etc) and it worked perfectly with all of them.
Looking forward to receiving my grill, which is the only thing I still need.
Great little stove! I love the fact that I don't have to worry if I'm out of fuel since I can use any type of dry wood. Pine cones are a great source of fuel too! Packs small and fits into the Kettlepot. Smokeless and heats water or food fast!
Compact and efficient. Variable speed fan conserves on fuel making it easier to control than a rocket stove. It packs right inside the KettlePot. Very happy with my purchase.
