Charged during a snow fall

While it's not the optimum season for Solar in the Midwest, this still was able to take a charge during a snow fall. The panel is a nice size and the battery is much smaller and has better performance than previous units I have used. The integrated sun dial for alignment is a nice feature and one of those things that makes so much sense I don't understand why these haven't always been included on solar chargers. All in all a nice unit and I can't wait to take it on a serious trip.

Another BioLite success

Received the panel quickly. The packaging did require some ripping to get open since the cover was glued to the cardboard box. Once opened, easy to use and set up. Came with two lights lit and quickly charged my iPhone 6s. The stand and angle guide improve the recharge process. Nice and light. Another well designed and produced BioLie product. Only suggestion would be an optional sleeve to protect the panel from the occasional bumps and scratches from carrying around.

Wyoming Travels

Wyoming is not the best place for solar power equipment, as it is cloudy here a lot of the time. However this panel worked great on a weekend trip. Kept two smartphones charged along with itself. Set-up is a snap with the aiming device.

Intuitive and powerful

For a week now, I've had this panel soaking up the New Mexico sun every day charging various BioLite (and other) renewable energy products in anticipation of getting back out into nature.
I plugged a USB meter to the output and sure enough, it performs as advertised! The added internal battery is elegant, well implemented and intuitive.
The adjustable stand works well for hanging or placement on the ground and the two built in grommets will do well for mounting on a back-pack.
Maybe because it's new, this 5 watt unit out performed my GoalZero Nomad 7(watt) solar panel. However my ability to daisy chain 2 Nomads does give them an edge for quicker charging, but it also means carrying more purpose specific cables. BioLite might want to think about a daisy chain option in the future perhaps.
Once again, BioLite has hit it out of the park in design and function for this Solar panel - Kudos!

If you are an outdoor activities person then you need a Solar Panel 5+. If you travel to out-of-the-way places, then you need one of these. Everything works as advertised! Keeps a charge and easily charges your phone or Kindle. I saw how a similar panel ($$$$) worked great in Nepal and the Solar Panel 5+ is as good if not better for less cost.
