Reliable printer

Printer has worked well, prints reports, checks, web pages, etc. I have no complaints about the machine. One quirk that is somewhat annoying - the machine does not "wake" from deep sleep mode with the first print request of the day. I have to reach over and press the power button to wake it from deep sleep. If I don't, the printer software thinks there is an error and the printer has become disconnected.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The resolution is great & it's fast! When it's not being used, it goes to sleep but gets back to work very quickly.

Quiet, fast, smooth double sided printing, stylish look. We're a busy service dept at a marina - need a printer that gets a lot of work. This one has been outstanding!!

So Far, So Good!

I am a new owner of this particular Brother printer and so far, it has performed very well and I especially like the "duplex" feature. It also prints text very sharp and there are a myriad of fonts to choose from, which is also a plus. The only negative aspect I can think of is the printer seems to leave some toner residue on the paper, but it is not really too prevalent. Overall, it has been a very good investment and suits my needs well.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Printer good, utility software annoying

The printer is quiet and fast, and I'm quite happy with it so far. However, the utility software pops up every time I print from Microsoft Word. Or rather, Windows asks permission for it to run whenever I print. I click No, and everything works. But it's irritating. One of these days I'll call Brother and ask how to stop that.

Great Printer - Sleep Mode is Annoying

We have multiple Brother 5100 at the company I work for. Over all the printer is great. Prints effectively. We do however have an issue with the printer going into sleep mode and then having a hard time awaking the printer. Even after you print something it seems to go to sleep quickly.
Is there a work around to this? It has become bothersome to some of our employees.

Too Much Background "Dirt"

We have 4 Brother printers in our business and all but this one are top-notch. Right from the beginning, the print job came out with lots of background "noise", if you will. I mean the document prints well but there is a dirty and spotty look to the paper. I called Tech Support and we went through the protocol for cleaning the drum and roller. That cleared it up a bit but for after a short while, the muddiness returned.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
