This Unit Performs Beautifully

Our central air needs repairs but we've been hesitant to do the ductwork repairs simply because $600 electric bills are no longer in budget since we are both retired. We purchased this unit about a week ago and set it up in the living room. Within an hour, the 305 sq ft room was comfortable and we were actually able to spend the evening watching tv without me getting sick from the heat. Being budget minded, we are only running it in the evenings, about 5 hours a day. It cools the room quickly and in energy saver, shuts itself off at least 30 minutes at a time. I love the oscillating feature. The remote is easy to see and work. I think this is literally a life saver.
How cost efficient? I will update this after we get out next electric bill.

Great unit wih some minor tweaks.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We lost our central AC unit for a week so needed cooling in Atlanta's summers.
During the day it was in the living room, and bedroom at night. Given the 70% humidity here I ran the drain to a 3 gallon bucket which was emptied three times per day.
The exhaust snorkel needs to be insulated regardless of where it's installed. I slid 6" insulated AC ducting over it so indoors radiation was nearly -0-, and the unit was not sucking hot air back inside. This insulated duct made a huge difference in indoor cooling ability regardless of where we put it.

Cools Well

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this because my central air went out for a few days and I needed to cool my 198 square foot bedroom, which faces west and gets hottest between 4:00 and 10:00 pm. I live in Texas where we have been having triple-digit temperatures almost daily the past three weeks. In my bedroom it was 92 F. In the morning, I set this A/C unit at 76 F, but the best it could do was 86 F in the late afternoon, when it is hottest. After 10:00 pm, it cooled the room to 84 F and by morning it cooled it to 79F. The ceiling in my room is 8 feet high on one end and 15 feet on the other, so this may be a major contributing factor toward the unit not cooling the room to match the temperature setting. I have the ceiling fan running and I also insulated the vent tube that forces hot air out the window. All in all, I am still pleased with this unit because it cools my large room enough for me to be able to sleep on a hot night. It is beautifully designed and easy to set up. Operation is easy. Since I live alone, I just may use this unit to cool my bedroom only when I sleep and perhaps save on my energy bill by shutting off central air at night.

Great AC Unit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We were considering a central a/c unit but didn't really want to spend the money. We bought this unit for our master bedroom which is 500 square feet. This unit is rated to cool 400 square feet so I was a little concerned that this unit may not be big enough to cool the room. That concern went away after using it for about an hour. It cools the room much better than I expected and installation is really easy. We have used this for over 2 months and couldn't be happier. Our dogs usually sleep downstairs but since we got this many times I wake up and see them sleeping 4-5 feet in front of the unit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this portable A/C unit when my main A/C went down, after seeing this unit in my parents house in use last year. Theirs worked GREAT and this year I decided to purchase one for myself. It does exactly what I wanted and needed it to do, life is comfortable now with exterior summer temps in the 100 degree range and I'm at mid 70's inside.
