Worst air-conditioner we ever owned

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the worst air-conditioner we've ever owned. Within the first six months a manufactures repair man had to come out and braze and solder the tubing. After another 11 months it is completely kaput and no one will warrantee the unit even with a three-year warranty. Manufacturing has it's problems.

Great unit with short lifespan

It worked very well for quite a while, but there is a SERIOUS design flaw. Internal water drains, which are not user accessible, can clog very easily. When they do, two cooper coils can easily rust out causing a hazardous refrigerant leak. The design flaw is both in the ease with which water accumulates against the coils, and the fact the coils are even in a position to be submerged at all.
Incidentally, this also permanently destroys the AC unit.

Needs a drain for the bottom of the case.

The machine cools great, however it is noisy. The drain for the water tank is easy to modify to drain outside, but there is no way to drain the bottom of the case it self and living in Florida with the high humidity it over flows every day if you do not take it out and drain it, which means turning it over on it's side by hand. If LG would put some sort of drain in the bottom that could be routed outside like the drain for the water tank I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. One less for the noise. JB

LEAKS!
on September 2, 2015

We bought the unit less than a month ago. About a week ago the unit flashed the code saying it needed to be emptied. We emptied the unit and put it back in service. A few days ago it started squeaking - then stopped. Today it leaked water all over the floor - it gave no code this time. Upon looking over other reviews, I noticed this is a common problem. The plug for the water is about midway up the back of the unit. When we asked support if there could be a pump that needed replacement we were told the unit HAS no pump! How does the water empty then, without a pump? The drain plug is far above the bottom of the unit.

We purchased 3 portable a/c.

I purchased three portable LG air-conditioners I’ve had issues with two of them. The last issue -it does not blow cold air anymore I’ve only used it for a couple seasons. When you pay $500 for an air-conditioner it should last more than two summers and now I’m told that I have to pay to repair it At this point I don’t recommend LG products or their customer service

terrible product

This unit was purchased in July of 2016. Now two years later the vent hose is tearing apart at almost every section. I have repeatedly taped in up and it then tears in a new place. Now the unit is leaking from the bottom of the unit. previously I hooked up a rain hose to the back of the unit and it was working fine (except for having to empty the five gallon bucket after a few hours). I would not recommend purchasing this air conditioner.

Very disappointing

I bought this a couple of years ago. Worked okay until the middle of last Summer, but then quit cooling. Everything was hooked up correctly, filters cleaned, etc. The compressor runs but does not cool. The sad part is that I couldn't find anyone that repairs the portable air conditioners. Did buy an new on but not an LG. I doubt if I would ever buy another LG product.
