I will no longer purchase products from GE, we have spent thousands on these machines (Fridge, Freezer, Clothes Washing Dryer, Dishwasher and they keep getting worse. I remember as a boy our GE dishwasher lasted 2 decades now your lucky if it makes it a couple years

works great!!

I've had this dishwasher for 11 days now and have used it several times. I have a family of six and this dishwasher fits all my dirty table dishes for the day. It cleans them better than any dishwasher I have had and when I set it to dry them, it actually dries them. I love the bottle jets too. They work great on glass baby bottles and plastic water bottles.

different but it cleans great!

i just got this and i ran it a few times with different yuckies to check it out. it works great with everything. i got it to replace a different brand that was less than 2 years old and it was costing the price of a new one to have it repaired.
but be advised: the holes in the bottom of the silverware basket are larger than most, so if you have slender silverware (i do) the handles slip right through and jam the whirling blades. i'll have buy new silverware. also the signal light stays on when the wash is finished until you manually shut it off. if you're not home, it can stay on all weekend so plan when to run the washer. i chose this washer because it has a heated dry cycle, but it adds about an extra 30 minutes to the completion time. that makes it almost 3 hours to run. it only pays to run it if it's filled. the basket is also large and takes up a lot of space. if you're not filling it with service for eight or twelve, you don't really need that much silverware room. so i think that space is wasted. the baskets do not separate. fortunately i kept the separating holders from my previous washer and can use them. you may not have any need for the bottle jets but if you do, add time to use those. the upper rack is oddly designed in that you can't put small dishes in the center. they slide to one side so you have to put glasses in two rows next to each other. this is not the best way to stack the dishes, in my opinion. there is also no user's manual, so you have to print out 22 pages if you want to keep the manual in the kitchen. the only thing that could have been better designed was the basket holes, the light at the end of the wash and the size and unseparatability of the basket. the timing is what it is and the fact that you can't leave the house you have to plan around. nothing terrible.
if you can live with those restrictions, then go for it. you get a great wash for a reasonable amount of money.
the door feels a little lightweight and i was afraid that it would be noisy, but happily it's very quiet. you can wash upper rack, lower rack or both racks and that's a nice feature if you're a small family
i'm not sorry i chose this model and i would still recommend it. i know i'll get used to it after i change my silverware. i also know from experience that there are no perfect dishwashers.

Super quiet but LONG cycle times and poor drying
on October 7, 2016

Love how quiet it is! It's so quiet the cycle time remaining display is a key feature so you know when it's done. Online reviews like CR diss the bottle sprays as a gimmick but we've found they're great, not just for sports bottles but for things like coffee pots. Originally we wanted a self-cleaning filter but that would add noise, cost and more things to break so we decided against it and I'm glad we did, rinsing the filter is trivial, a few seconds every few weeks. Does a good job cleaning, especially the steam for baked-on stuff. The only things we don't like are the crazy long cycle times and poor drying. Our usual settings are auto-sense, water heat and no drying and that's 125 minutes. "Normal" cycle (no auto-sense) is still almost 2 hours. Some combinations go over 3 hours. That's a real problem when you have a second load waiting. For us that's only when we have guests so it's livable but for a big family it could be a deal killer. Without heated dry everything's still wet even after sitting overnight for 12 hours or more. Even heated dry still leaves water on top of plastic dishes. We do dishes after dinner and on our old dishwasher they were always completely dry by morning, we never needed heated dry. Not working that way with this one. Big deal, energy efficient label but if you have to use heated dry all that energy savings goes away.

Quiet; Excellent Dishwasher

I had this dishwasher installed over 1 month ago and have been extremely happy with this purchase. It is so quiet I have to check the light to verify it is on. The dishes come out great and there is plenty of room for taller pans and glasses. I pre-was everything by hand so I can't comment on how well it removes stuck on food. Excellent product; well made; great features; stainless interior.

Great dishwasher

After reviewing different brands of dishwashers and features I liked this one the best. Cost was less, door wasn't as hard to open as some of them, It cleans very well, in less than 2hrs on a light load. Some other less expensive ones take 2-3 hrs to do the dishes, in the long run you're spending more money on the electric. A nice feature was if u have large bottles or baby bottles put them on the top rack on those specially designed rungs. Great feature is if you have large dishes you can move the top rack up.
