Wanted to love it, but I don't

I'm not crazy about the setup with the racks, but since my husband really wanted a stainless drum and I wanted the new slate this is the one we purchased. I came from a model that had silverware on the door, loved that. Dislike the setup on this, don't care for how the plates and glasses sit within the tines and I really wished the silverware was on the door. I'll have to live and get used to it. Its sleek on the outside and very quiet, which we do like. No regret on purchasing slate, its the inside design I don't care for.

Takes too long

113 minutes is the shortest wash cycle time on this machine. It could be shorter if I didn't want my dishes to be dry when they're done. I had to buy it so it would match the other appliances and I am so disappointed. It has no quick rinse cycle for when dishes aren't that dirty. Serves me right for thinking all dishwashers were pretty much the same. Boy was I WRONG!

Nice new dishwasher

We had to replace our older GE which had all these features, but not the stainless inside cabinet. I looked around and this was the one that had everything I was looking for in a dishwasher. Let me say it is very quiet. I have to look to make sure it is running. The lock feature on the display is one thing that I didn't have before and really appreciate. The feature to wash only the upper or lower is there, but I don't foresee using it. There is also several choices depending on how dirty dishes are in the load. It displays how long the wash will last. An average load is 75 minutes. You can have it run for extra dirty loads for several hours. This also has a sensing mode which allows the dishwasher to sense how much water to add and how long it will take to clean the load. I was warned by the salesperson and numerous owners not to ever use this feature or it could run for up to 4 hours. I already have this on a washing machine and hate it so this is one feature that could be left off without any problem. It has 4 jets on the top rack for larger glasses. I used it once for a Contiga travel mug. It works, but not something that will be used often. The top drop down shelf for larger knives and ladles is useful. I always have something that needs to go up there. The silverware rack has all the drop down holders so each can be put in an individual hole. We had to lift the back one so we can put knives in it because the holes are not big enough for those. The one thing that was an absolute requirement for me was the food grinder feature. The filter has a food grinder built in so that food doesn't clog the drain and I don't have to clean it constantly. I do love the inside stainless cabinet. It looks nices than the old white one. I also like the detergent dispenser. It holds the newer pods that you get as a free sample to try. So far, it works great. We have had numerous GE dishwashers over the years and this brand tends to have a lot of issues. I have had recall notices on 3 of the last ones with one requiring me to replace the dishwasher after 3 years. Hopefully, those issues have been worked out with this newer model.

I bought the dishwasher a month ago. From the start the silverware was drippy when the cycle ended - even with the 'dry' on. The company promised an new basket for the silver - have received nothing.

Clean dishes....I don't think so!

After 3 months of washing dishes on the "heavy cycle" I have yet to get a clean set out of the machine. So disappointing. Why have so many cycles when the heavy duty one can't clean a basic set of plates and bowls...

Great Features but downgrades to hidden parts

It's a nice upgrade in performance features from previous GE dishwashers and less noisy. However, the mechanicals have been downgraded making installation difficult and question the long term reliability of the machine. For instance, the hose assembly is a thinner plastic and cannot be detached from the machine, when compared to prior GE models. It will therefore be more prone to leak and will not be fixable due to the permanent attachment. Second, the added installation sent to install behind the toe plate, makes fastening the toe plate a nightmare. The toe plate screws need to be lengthened. The installer and I pulled the extra installation out, and just screwed in the toe plate without it.

So disappointed-leaves dishes dirty every time

I have had this dishwasher for nearly a month. I deeply regret the purchase to date. This is more money than I was going to spend-but the promise of amazing features lured me in: the top/bottom wash only options, the stainless steel interior, easily adjustable bottom rack tines, easily adjustable upper rack, bottle jets, child lock, etc. However- IT DOESN'T CLEAN MY DISHES! My old dishwasher came with our home 6 years ago and was not perfect, but it did a much better job than this one. I have gone through the checklist online and in the manual (water temp, vents, filters, drains, soap, loading, etc) and tried a myriad of different cleaning combos. Every time something is dirty. And it's not even something that's baked on or caked on- it's simple stuff that should be easily cleaned on a normal cycle. It has been like this since wash #1. I have a call into GE to have a repairman come and look at it since it's obviously under warranty. They can't get here for nearly 2 weeks. We'll see what they have to say-maybe they will fix it and my mind will be changed. If so, I'll come back and update. But for now, I wish I would have bought this at a store that accepts returns because now I am stuck with this expensive dishwasher that doesn't work and I want to cry for all the money I feel I just flushed down the toilet.

Enjoying this dishwasher

We've had the washer a few months now. Overall, love it. Cleans dishes and runs silently. In fact, it is so quite, we are not always sure if someone started it or not. I'm still figuring out how to arrange various dishes and bowls in the racks, which are different than our last washer, but I can get a lot in one load. In fact, the ability to just wash the lower or upper rack has come in handy when I just need to wash a lot of silverware, for example, or just want to run something special through without waiting for the whole washer to fill. I can wash larger items now, too, being able to raise the upper rack to allow tall items below. I don't use the bottle jets every time, but I do use their clips for holding smaller items. The heated dry setting is amazing, but it is almost too hot, so I often don't use it for a quick turnaround of dishes. I am using less dish soap and water than before and getting a better wash. I like the features, because I use them and they work.
