LOVE IT

My favourite thing about this stove is that I can cook over a fire and not smell like campfire. I use a cast iron pan and can cook anything! I love how quickly it fires up and how quickly it burns out and cools off. By the time we are done eating we can pack it up.

A Wonder

Received BaseCamp for Christmas gift. While cooking Christmas dinner , all burners were being used in kitchen. Decided to cook cranberry sauce outside on BaseCamp stove. Used sticks and twigs from orchard behind house. Stove came to life instantly. Worked well and now, along with having a stove to take to car camping events, we have a portable stove for emergencies, such as earthquakes, power outages, and not enough burners on the kitchen stove.
Love this stove.

A wood burning wonder and world changer.

A few years back my wife and I travelled to Indonesia and the island of Lombok (along with Bali and Java). There we witnessed first hand the smoky conditions in which women cooked for hours on end - mostly rice, chickpeas and the occasional chicken. The condition these women worked under were terrible and constricting by western standards, though they never complained and they fed their guests with smiles and incredibly tasty, simple meals.
It is with those memories in mind that my wife and I eagerly supported the BioLite kickstarter campaign that brought the BaseCamp stove into our lives.
In the years that we've used it, our BaseCamp has obtained some dings and discoloration, but it's held up like a champ. Last year we purchased a Grill Grate (grillgrate.com) that fit the top exactly so that we can sear our steaks perfectly. We also supported a kickstarter project for the SkeweRack (konexcel.com) which makes shish kabobbing a breeze. We are now looking forward to the upcoming pizza oven top for our BaseCamp.
With these items and the solid performance of the fan, battery, electronics and pass-through LED light, we're set for even more use of our BaseCamp and never going back to charcoal or propane.
And as we enjoy our modern way of outdoor/casual cooking we totally applaud the efforts that BioLite is making in the world to spread the BaseCamp ideas far and wide. Next market....Indonesia?

Fast Fire! And Controllable!

To my surprise, I was able to generate a hot fire in the BaseCamp within a few minutes... like three! I ignited a cotton ball, and added it to some shaved curls of fat wood, a couple of fat wood pieces and a couple pieces of my prepared timber. The fire took immediately and within a couple more minutes, I had a hot fire! That is FAST!
This was my first attempt with my new BaseCamp, and was pleasantly surprised to see how EASY this was, not to mention... FUN!
The warm fire was nice to sit by since is was fairly smokeless for most of it's burn time, which is also a plus for the environment. The FlexLight that comes with the BaseCamp is a warm, bright light that is great for seeing in the dark! It turns on and off with dimming capabilities with just a touch on the backside of the light!
We cooked our dinner on the top of the BaseCamp with ease. To regulate heat, you can reduce the heat by removing some wood quite easily as the part sticking in the tray out doesn't burn. And to fire it up hotter instantly, I tossed a few more fat wood curls in it. The fire reacted promptly with both methods of heat control which allowed me to cook as I needed to.

Great fun and safe

We took our basecamp to Tennessee, and my little boy had such a great time collecting wood for it! It's very easy to light, and kicks out lots of heat, cooked my T-bone steak to perfection!! It feels really sturdy and safe, which is a massive plus. Looking forward to our next trip with this welcome addition to our equipment musts!

Base camp

This thing is amazing. Love love love it. The Base Camp is heavier than you'd imagine because the inside is cast iron. The charging port works perfectly as described. The only issue I had was figuring out the light.
I'm a guy so I didn't read all of the directions, so I didn't read the detail about the light. It's a tap light. That's it!

Lives up to the hype

My son and I had a hit fire in a matter of minutes. Just a week in and he has used it several times with his friends while working on building a shed. He had boiling water in minutes and roasted hot dogs and hamburgers later that afternoon. We lose power regularly and love having this in an emergency. If you have a supply of wood then you have a stove top and a charger for your electronics. Great buy. The only downside is that it is heavy but it's built to last.
