Cooked many meals weekly for several years now!

This grill made my huge infrared gas grill obsolete. The quality of the food is great the ease of use is also very nice. The durability of it is amazing. It has litterally cooked 1-5 meals for my family every single week for 3 years+. Yes I even use it in the winter. For kicks i tried it while it was snowing. I’ve e used hickory, maple and oak in it for fuel. The food tastes amazing and the unit still works great. I only wish it came with a chair. My kids say it makes the best smores and roasted marshmallows. Bottom line years of use great quality food and easy as can be to use. If you can work a box of matches you can use this grill/stove.

Great product

Purchased the Basecamp and it arrived before projected. So one point extra.
I am very impressed with the BaseCamp wood grill in every aspect. Grilled enough chicken to feed a family of five in 20 minutes. I used half inch twigs and a little drier lint for a starter. The heat was distributed equally on the grill and reached 350 degrees rather quickly and the chicken was done in no time. I also charged may wife's phone just to see if it worked which it did. Tomorrow- rib eyes.
I really like the fact that it cooled off quickly after use so I was able to put it in the garage not having any worries of catching fire to anything.
Highly recommend this grill.

The ultimate beach BBQ

Every Sunday is beach day and that means beach-bbq.
The BaseCamp is simply amazing. I routinely will cook for 2-8 people on the beach and use a quarter/half the wood required by other bbqs to get eh job done. The cook is very good (distributed heat) and the USB port keeps the music system going all afternoon. Best of all, when you are done cooking just empty the ashes in a hole in the sand and the Basecamp completely cools off in about 15 min.

Essential to us...

This is our primary cookstove at home and it works wonders! I am so happy I got in on the Kickstarter campaign with this stove, it has been a blessing to us. We use it nearly every day for our cooking needs.
My only suggestion would be that I wish the fan would kick on like it does for the Campstove. It seems ridiculous that we don't have the ability to have a fan to start the fire from the get go but have to wait for the heating element to start the fan. Not sure if this is an option in the newer models, mine is from the original release.
I was kind of disappointed that it took the Pizza Oven to finally release a cover with thermometer but it is here now and I am all the more impressed. Now we have a complete oven!

Fun Autumn Grilling

Easy to start a fire and once the fan kicks in the fire gets hot very quickly. Using cast iron to cook some sausage and eggs was quick and easy. A quart of water came to a boil in 6:00 minutes once the stove had reached temperature. I have grilled steaks, pork chops and polish sausages on my Basecamp model and it is as easy as using a gas grill, only tastier. I am planning a trip out to the orchards to scavenge some wood from fruit trees cuttings and see if that wood will impart even more flavor. Great product, as well made as my Campstove model only easier to feed fuel to once cooking gets started. I think this is one of those game changing products for campers, in case of emergencies, or those wanting to live more off grid.

It gives a great amount of heat for little amount of fuel

I recently bought the BaseCamp stove so that I could do some backyard grilling. It fits my needs perfectly! There is always access to twigs, small pieces of wood and branches that need to be burned; therefore, it has a two-fold purpose: grills a great lunch or dinner, and it efficiently burns the wood from branches that come down into the yard. The stove heats fairly quickly, especially if dried twigs and smaller pieces of wood are used, then add a little larger sized split branch as the stove gets hot. I have found that continuing to use the small stuff with the larger wood helps keep the fire very hot and the fan going in the stove. It is nice to have this smaller grill option for a quickie meal!

Another hit for a gadget geek

This is another well thought out product I didn't need but yes I wanted. I have the majority of BioLight products in my possession now including two of one of their great items. Funny thing is I'm not even going to try and justify owning all this cool stuff. Plus I've been paying a very large premium for all these products because of the (lack of) value of the Canadian currency. Actually I am going to justify it with Biolites mission. There, clear conscience. Well sort of anyway. Now back to the BaseCamp, works wonderfully well. In the learning curve to run it I found it doesn't burn the ashes down near as well as the campstove. This is not a criticism. The only reason I point this out is you need somewhere to dispose of the hot embers. Weather it be a metal pail or a fire pit. Buy the Carry Pack that is designed for it. A purchase you will not regret the first time you carry it any distance. Or up the first set of steps. As heavy as this stove is to carry it is even more awkward to carry. Time to go back to work because as I type on May 9th Biolite says on May 10th a new product is being released to make my camp site smarter. PLEASE be something I don't want or at the very least something I can afford! Slow down guys and gals your going to bankrupt me. I'm addicted! All joking aside great products, keep investing in your mission to help the poor and I'll try not to make myself poor buying your innovative products. Hopefully that last part (making me poor) was a joke. Thanks.

BASECAMP STOVE

Since November 2015 I have purchased 2 BASECAMPS . One for myself and one as a gift. I have cooked steaks, bratwurst, corn on the cob, grilled oysters, salmon, vegies, and even Pizza. In order to bake Pizza I had to borrow a dome lid from my WOK. A dome lid causes the stove to smoke like a Weber Kettle and give a more smoked flavor. I had my own pizza stone for the Pizza Bake. Just the other day I received an email from Biolite stating they had an addition to the basecamp, a Domed Top that allows you to bake. Just what I was looking for. The Dome has a thermometer and it comes with a pizza stone. I ordered one and await its arrival. All I can really add is this stove is a great invention. Each time I use it I get an idea for something else that should be included in the purchase. Now I would like Biolite to come up with a small brush and shovel for cleaning the firing chamber. A small METAL CAN with lid would be great for storing ashes (what little there is) and smothering the embers. ( I came up with my own) This would also be a big safety factor. You may not have water to spare. The ash catcher does its job but that is it. Maybe a lid of some sort to smother the embers in the ash catcher would work as well. I would give this stove four and a half stars. Nothing is perfect. Always room for improvement. Thanks BIOLITE ! !
