Worst Appliance Decision we've ever made

BEWARE - TRUTH following - this submission is NOT part of a sweepstakes entry and therefore it is totally honest. We bought this refrigerator 3 years ago. First, as soon as we got it home we realized it was SO NOISEY! Since then, all 3 drawers have broken (not covered in warranty), the ice maker/water dispenser leaks/drips gathers water under the little drip catcher thing, but without you being able to see it. As a result, slowly water started to gather behind the door, and rusted out the front of the fridge (also, not covered..."cosmetic"). And FINALLY, about a month ago, the freezer went out, just stopped working. We spent 40+ days with the warranty company reviewing the claim, during which time the FRIDGE also started going out. They've sent TWO separate service providers out to try and fix it - BOTH of whom told them it wasn't worth fixing (seriously - an appliance that should last 10 years is so bad its not worth repairing after 3?! - two separate control boards, a compressor, etc), finally the warranty company said Kitchen Aid would fix it - IF WE Paid for it up front. You have to be kidding!! Today the warranty company said they will replace it with a similar Kitchen Aid (which received 1.4 stars on other review sites and is now...only available to ship direct from Kitchen Aid - hmmm - I wonder why?!). So, we paid and incredible amount of money 3 years ago for the PLEASURE of an awful appliance, tons of spoiled food, crazy inconveniences (try feeding a family of 5 in the Phoenix heat in the summer without a working freezer or fridge!). RUN - do not WALK away from these Kitchen Aid refrigerators!

Nice but not perfect

I bought this refrigerator six months ago. Service has been fantastic, but it has needed service! It had problems with the icemaker spitting out water and the service professionals replaced some kind of Computer component. When that was done it worked just fine but is a bit loud for my taste. My other complaints are that you have to close the drawer and load it just right or ice crystals will form. Also the plastic/rubber pads on the dispensers at the door have become marred From only six months worth of use. They look a little rough.

Run do not walk away from this fridge

First the ice maker caused interior freezing in the fridge compartment - was replaced. Then the water intake valve cracked (plastic part) causing a major insurance claim to refinish hardwood floor. I like the layout and roominess but HATE the quality.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had upgraded appliances with our new home and was excited when they were kitchenaid but sadly am disappointed with the layout of the fridge and freezer. The freezer has much less space and I don't like how the shelves on the side of the doors of the fridge are not really adjustable.
I really do enjoy the water dispenser and the fact that the fridge tells you when the door is open, my son is constantly forgetting to close the fridge door so this is a perk forsure.
