An Expensive Bad Decision

The long draw broke within the first month. Bought an extended year warranty (from another establishment), but the drawers are only covered for the first month. I didn't call right away for the replacement since I thought I had a year and called a week too late. The display for the long drawer doesn't work either. We also had one of the smaller drawers break as well all in the first year. The ice maker is so slow that it takes two days to refill. If we have a small get together (3-5 people), then we have to go buy ice. If you don't change the water filter in time then it will stop making ice and allowing you to get water out of the front. You can easily remove and reinsert the old filter to buy you some more time. Overall, I wish that I would have bought a 4 door fridge. The only reason it gets two stars is because it does keep our food cold, but I paid the extra money for the extra features that are falling short. I just feel like this product is not going to last.

Love this fridge, but very disappointed in quality....

I have owned Whirlpool/KitchenAid products for over 30 years, so I was loyal to the brand. When this new refrigerator was delivered, I loved it; however, within a couple of weeks one of the freezer door hinges began to collect thick frost. This prevented the drawer from opening easily or closing completely. A service tech repaired the freezer door seal. Within a month the same thing happened on the other side of the freezer door hinges. Yet another service call (two within two months). Again, the tech warmed and adjusted the freezer door seal to correct the problem.
The problem seems to occur when we have had the A/C off in the house and there is humidity in the air. The tech tried to explain this as the cause, but that is nonsense...some houses do not have any A/C! He also said that sometimes the appliance needs to "adjust" to its new setting....what??? I fear that the quality I was hoping for in this very expensive refrigerator may not live up KitchenAid's previous models or perhaps I simply received a "lemon". Hopefully the problem is corrected...time will tell.
I love the brightness (easy to see everything), most of the features are good, and the fridge and freezer cool very well. It would be helpful if the refrigerator drawers were accessible without having to open both outside doors.
If I had not had two service calls in the first two months, I would have given this five stars, but I am very disappointed with the problems in a brand new appliance.

Too many problems

My wife and I bought this fridge for the features and quality we thought was evident with the brand. Unfortunately, we've had ice maker problems, seal problems, and now have a constant buzz / hum that just won't go away. The inside of the fridge and freezer work for us but the mechanical quality is just too much to handle.

Terrible KitchenAid Refrigerator - Do NOT Waste Your Money

We bought the KFIS29PBMS00 Kitchenaid refrigerator, serial number, K22403741, in 2012. Up until then, we had always purchased standard, basic fridges that were always workhorses. My husband and I decided to "invest" in this fridge - stainless steel, very pretty, numerous features, etc. It has been the WORST refrigerator. Not only is it ridiculously loud, but now for the second time, my freezer and ice machine is not working. One repair man confessed that he had heard that there is a defect with this model. What a piece of junk! I should have bought the simple, less-expensive refrigerator - at least I could depend on those type of machines to keep my food cold and frozen. Now, with all my food ruining in my freezer today, I have to call yet another repair man. I'm at the point of just giving up, and purchasing another refrigerator, but believe me, it will not be Kitchenaid.

Very poor choice on our end!

I have had Kitchenaid appliances for years and I have never had such a bad experience with a refrigerator. Ice accumulates in the back of the refrigerator to form ice-cycles, and there is a horrible whining noise that never goes away.

Freezer needed to be repaired twice....

I like the features of this refrigerator, but the freezer was repaired twice under warantee and it broke again out of warranty. The entire cooling system of the freezer needs to be replaced, which we will not do. This will be the last Kitchenaid major appliance I ever buy.

Frozen waterline
