I had high hopes...but this is my least favorite kitchenaid

I bought this refrigerator in April of 2014 when we purchased our house. I bought all new Kitchenaid appliances. This is bar far my biggest disappointment. After it was installed, it wasn't hardly making any ice and so we had to call someone back out again. They said there was packaging foam that was not taken off and so it wasn't getting air in. That helped some. Overall, the ice bin is too small. We drink a lot of water and it seems like with just 5 of us in the house, there is never enough ice. I have had the front ice display all of a sudden start blinking all kinds of numbers for no reason. We had to go out to the breaker box to have the whole thing turned off. Then it went back to normal. It's now December and my water wont come out when you push on the water dispenser. It just does nothing. Then when you walk away, suddenly water will start pouring out.
The refrigerator is pretty and shiny on the inside, but overall a HUGE disappointment. Especially after paying more than the average for a refrigerator, I would not have expected to find this many problems so quickly.

I love the space and convenience of double doors and lower freezer. The only issue we have is the rate at which the water dispenses. Seems to be a little slow.

Wanted to buy GE but regretably allowed saleman to convince us this is better. Wanted GE unit for double ice maker feature. Salesman told us this ice maker made more ice faster than the GE. He lied, our friends have the GE unit and love it, this thing makes very little ice and can't keep up with the ice needs when we have another couple over for cocktails and dinner. I can't imagine how a family with children could get along with this. It is noisey when the unit is running. Wish I had stayed with the GE!!!

We purchased our KA refrig to go along with our KA stove, microwave and dishwasher. We like the refrig and have none of the ice maker or leaking issues noted in other reviews. The thing I do not like about the refrig is the noise during normal running. I can hear it all through my 1200 sq ft home. We had service come out the fist week owned and the service tech told me that the factory will not even respond to noisy running complaints. Was told it was because it was energy efficient and that is what caused more noise. Wish I had kept my quite Kenmore side by side. This is not noised by ice falling into the ice maker bin - or noise during water fill up etc. This is the fan and compressor during normal operation. If I could have heard it running in show room I would not have bought it. because of the noise I rated design poor, quailty fair and performance fair.
Pros: easy to use
Cons: noisy during normal cooling

I have never been excited about a refrigerator as we are about this model. Our 22 yr. old workhorse just stopped cooling one evening and as soon as we saw this, we fell in love. The thought and innovation built into this product is amazing. The three "shelf" no shelf in the freezer is exceptional. Great use of space, attention to detail, as well as the quiet operation of this machine sets it apart from the competition. Thank you Kitchenaid.
