Very Poor Design

We selected this product to replace an older GE model and wanted to continue with the GE brand. This downdraft is a poor design. The filters are not attached firmly to the unit and move out of their proper location. As a result, they block the unit from being raised. We had the installers come twice now and they still have not been able to resolve the problem. Therefore, we cannot use the unit despite the purchase, measurement and installation expenses. Very frustrating!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Just meh

It doesn't have near as much power as we expected. We bought the matching GE 36" induction cooktop and the vent doesn't suck in a majority of the steam coming off of pans...especially when they are furthest away from it. It also seems cheaply made for the cost.

My minor issue is that some edges are sharp, I have to be careful when I whip off the unite .

Sleek, Quiet, and Powerful

The fan was super easy to install, which was great. But moreover, it is hidden away when not in use, and very cool looking when raised up for use. The best part, though, is that is is very quiet but also very powerful. We are more than happy with this purchase.

I had the earlier iteration of this downdraft- it lasted maybe 4yrs. In that time i had to repair it twice. The last time i just gave up and set it so it stayed in the raised position. Very disappointing! Just redid my kitchen and knowing that GE appliances are always evolving and comparing this downdraft to others i felt it was worth another shot. I like the appearance, newer control set up and filters placement, plus this unit- uvb36dkbb- is quieter. Hopefully it'll last.
