I am so sorry that you were sent a cartridge that the printer says is "incompatible". I hope to get it to work for you though!
This should be a correct cartridge, it is just not making a good enough connection with the printer for it to be recognized. Take the cartridge out and reinsert it, being careful to make sure it is firmly seated in its slot. If that doesn't help you can do a power reset (unplug while it is turned on, wait a bit and then plug back in).
If nothing works, it is likely just a defective cartridge and you can contact us for replacement via: hp.com/contactHP

I purchase these cartridges for our church. I use only "draft" mode for printing to cut back on costs...but I know I do not get 2,000 pages out of one of these cartridges. this last cartridge didn't even last a full month. the prior cartridge lasted at least 2 months +.
