Epson WF 7520

Print speed is a little slow, as advertised, but the quality is good, as is the color fidelity. The page sizes which can be copied cover a wide range, which was the point. These large or odd sizes can be converted to standard sizes, which is very useful. It also uses numerous paper types. The 7520 has 2 paper trays where the 7510 has one: Using 2 produces fewer "load paper" interruptions.

Epson Printer

I purchased this printer for my small business. I like the features that it has and the print quality is excellent. The reason I gave 4 stars is because the scanner is very slow when using the document feeder. I have a tax service and there is no way that I will be able to use the scanner in the way I intended. This is a disappointment.

Print Qualities

I found the selection of paper or the tray can limit the quality you can select. You have to work around and "lie" to your printer about the quality of paper for it to work.
I like the 2-sided printing a lot and hope to be able to see the print qualities whatever you select be available for 2-sided printing and regardless of the tray selected.

Whole Lotta Machine

Bought this model because its ADF will scan two sides and print two sides as well, and Epson's own phone reps state that it does this on both letter and legal size paper stock (but not on sheet sizes larger than that). Its BW printing speed is every bit as fast as they say it is.
After reading other reviewers, I chose to load the driver software directly from Epson's website rather than use the furnished CD, and the whole experience was a piece of cake...ditto for linking wirelessly to our home network.
Yes, the availability of two paper feed drawers is very convenient and desirable, but I will caution that the upper (#1) drawer handles photo papers and plain paper best, while the lower (#2) drawer is preferable for all the super size (11x17, etc.) sheets.
Happily, its ability to print quality photographs is impressive; both serious amatuers and hobbyists will be delighted. I'm a retired professional photographer who can tell the difference, and this machine meets my photo requirements beautifully.
(But hey, if you're looking for the absolute best photographic quality, you will still have to look among the top level printers that the pros use.)
Kudos go to the Epson Tech Support people. They helped me through a paper size/type setting question very nicely, and the hold/wait time was less than five minutes.
So, if you need a big-sheet machine that can scan and print up to 11x17 with the convenience of two paper feed drawers, ADF for letter and legal originals, and prints faster than a scalded dog, this machine should be your choice.

Epson WorkForce WF-7520 Part 2

I am upgrading my previous review from 4 stars to 5 stars. After spending most of the afternoon printing 12" X 18" CAD drawings as well as standard letter size printing, I never had to get up once to correct a paper jam, as was the case with my previous Brother MFC-J6910DW printer. Isn't it great when stuff works like it is supposed to???

I bought this product for my home business because I need to scan and copy 11 x 17 and European paper sizes. I was disappointed that it can not scan double sided copies larger than standard 8.5 x 11 sized paper. The unit jams frequently when copying double sided documents or the ADF grabs multiple pages. In addition, it has started streaking when copying double sided documents via the ADF and when I scan with the ADF. I have cleaned the print head, did a nozzle check, changed ink cartridges all to no better result. I am forced to go to FedEx Kinkos to finish my copy needs to meet my deadlines.

MOSTLY GOOD NEWS
on June 11, 2014

from Albany, NY area
Got the WF-7520 late yesterday and had it up an running in approx. 40 minutes. Some of that time was waiting for the machine to clean the print heads.
Overall very high quality product with lots of nice features. I am a Manufacturing Engineer so being able to print on 11 x 17 paper is great. One nice touch is all the little tape tabs that keep things in place during shipping have a end that is very easy to grab to strip off the tape.
One complaint is the manual that comes with the machine does not have any instructions on how to print an envelope. It is a serious omission from the manual. To get the info one must download a very large PDF file where one can find in the index the info needed is on page 37. There you will find out that one has to remove all the paper from the top paper bin and place a single envelope, adjusting the paper guides to fit, then reverse the process to go back to normal printing.
The machine is large and heavy: you will need an area of at least 16 inches deep x 25 inches wide to place it on.
It replaces two HP machines, a wide carriage printer and an all-in-one printer. I was able to talk to a Customer Service person @ 2130 east coast time to get some help and that is just great.
Well Done Epson.

Top printer with the usual quirks
on July 8, 2014

Bought this to replace a wide format printer from another company that had died after 2 years. From a small business point of view:
Pros:
It uses very little ink compared with other printers.
We've printed everything from 4" x 6" photos to 13" x19" posters - all were sharp.
The quality of printing is excellent for all jobs except maybe high definition photos.
It also replaced a 4 in 1 fax machine.
The double side printing capability is excellent.
It has 2 paper trays so you don't have to constantly be switching paper out of the machine.
Quirks:
It was a minor nuisance to set it up to print the fax reports showing a fax had gone through properly (still not sure if I have it right).
It will sometimes grab multiple sheets of paper when printing especially if the weather is a little humid.
The automatic feeder on the scanner cannot handle newsprint or any other soft paper without shredding it (you just have to use the flat bed instead). It handles regular 20 lb. paper fine.
It doesn't remember which tray to use for each document (we have 1 tray set up for letter size paper and 1 set for legal size paper).
Observation:
This printer is a solidly built machine. It is a quite a bit bigger than a regular size printer. When you set it up, it is only a little wider than the box it comes in. If you are buying this to replace an older printer you might want to keep this mind. (We had to shift things around in the office when setting it up.)
