Sound bar with optical fails with netflix
on October 17, 2014

The TV picture is great but I am considering returning due to the audio optical out connection causing a lot of grief! There is a loud strange noise that occurs if I turn off the TV before the sound bar or start and stop the video on netflix. The sound was so loud I actually blew a speaker on my sound bar. I have already replaced the sound bar per the sony technical help line's advice and still have the same issue.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello ztalu, thank you for bringing this to our attention. In regards to your concern it may not be an issue with your Sony TV. However, you could perform some troubleshooting steps. Remember that if you have a sound bar hook up in your TV, the sound goes out through the sound bar not your TV. You could try to hook up your sound bar to a cable box and will notice the same situation. If you do not have the same situation, try to perform some steps in the link below:
Picture is fine. Awaiting 4K content. Internet browser is slow. 2 remotes? both are clumsy. Controllers and navigation of such are poorly designed. Lack of a TRUE (hard copy) MANUAL is despicable.

Great Looking TV ever, Picture quality is awsome!!

Great Looking TV ever, Picture quality is awsome!! Really sharp and the 3D technology is great!
The TV delivers a nice* picture and has a great menu of options and extras. Thin bezel; looks great. Sound is adequate.
The software that runs the UI needs a revision, though:
Negatives about the software: - Navigating is a pain - inconsistent menus and commands; third-party apps don't follow convention - Remote lacks an "EXIT" button, bringing you back to the main TV signal (and the third-party apps all respond differently/have different menus). The "RETURN" button doesn't serve as an "EXIT" button. - When starting up with the input on a source that's not delivering signal (e.g. a DVD player that's turned off), for some reason the TV cycles for 20 seconds searching for signal, and starting up. Frustrating. - Web browser is unusable
On the *plus* side: - Tons of menu and customization options available - You can customize "sticky" settings so it'll remember your preferences for different inputs (i.e. TiVo settings are different from Blu-Ray settings). - Third-party apps are plentiful
*It's no plasma, that's for sure, even in 4K. How viewers could ever sacrifice plasma for LED pictures, I'll never know. I kept my plasma TV.

Can I Really Be In Love With My TV?

By far the best picture I've ever seen and the TV is very intuitive an easy to set up. I'm pretty sure two friends went out and traded their Samsung for Sony after watching Game of Thrones on my TV.
