We are sorry that the exterior is rusting and that the handles have broken. We can certainly understand your disappointment and we would like to have the opportunity to have this reviewed and look further into this. One of our agents will be reaching out to you via email for any additional information needed. Here is some valuable information about the care of the exterior. https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=36346 -- Please make sure that when handles are attached that you hear them click into position. Hello. Thank you for reaching out to us about your refrigerator, though we hate to hear you've had an issue with noise and cooling performance. We know this must have caused inconvenience, especially with a unit you've had less than a year. We'd like to assist.
After reviewing our system, we do see you have a service appointment pending. We are confident the technician will be able to assist with a satisfactory resolution for your concern.
Regarding the noise level of the unit, newer refrigerators can sound a bit different than older models. This is because they have added features and newer technology. Possible sounds include dripping or ice dropping into the bucket, clicking when the timer starts, fan noises, etc. There is a description of expected sounds in your manual, and we also have an article on this subject if you'd like to check if the noise is normal: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=15901 . We will certainly send your feedback on this topic to our Design team for review, as well.
Cooling performance can be affected by many factors, including the temperature of the room, whether the unit has enough air clearance, whether the doors are sealing completely and even food load. We have more details on possible troubleshooting in this article: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=21185 .
We hope this information is helpful and you are able to resolve the cooling and noise issues shortly, so you can go back to enjoying your refrigerator. If you have any other questions or concerns, we're happy to help. Best wishes! -Sarah@GEA

At this point we are just laughing at this thing.

DON'T ignore the ad reviews like I did. This thing is terrible. We received it with a very loud intermittent buzzing that doesn't stop unless you move the fridge a little. It's super wobbly and lightweight. It only has feet to adjust under the front and the back has nothing stabilizing the wheels at all. When you pull out the freezer drawer it shimmies and seems loose and cheap. Produce drawers are so small it can't fit celery or round things like lettuce. Doors slam shut unless you are super careful about shutting them. GE Service is outright ignoring me, so I can either pay out of pocket and get it repaired. They will not honor their warranty should you need them to. The whole thing is a wobbly, cheap, LOUD mess. Easily the worst purchase I have ever made. Buy another brand (from a local appliance place that offers service) and save yourself the annoyance.

Doors shut poorly thinly made drawers
on January 17, 2024

This refrigerator has a good amount of room, but the drawers are slimsy, and the plastic very thin and easily breakable. They waste plenty of space and should be designed much better. The inside water dispenser, wastes energy by having to have the whole door open letting the temp change inside, big mistake, really disappointed, and you have to stand there holding a container you want to fill up, no where to place it while filling big mistake, There are not enough different ways to adjust shelves. The doors do not close easily, when pushed to shut they go almost shut then stop, when your hands are full they are an inconvenience to close because you have to step back and push again to close or they reopen and sit there ajar. The temp and controls are inside and not easy to see, can't keep an eye on them from outside like our other models. Lots of improvements are needed.

The bottom freezer door fail to close completely. We have repeatly tried to resolve this issue but have to visual maje sure it is closed completely.
Response from geappliances.comBy Jonathon, GE_Appliances, July 21, 2025
We'd like to help out with the freezer drawer not closing.
We recommend making sure that all shipping material has been removed from the drawer and surrounding area. You can also wiggle the lower basket to make sure it is fully seated in the slides.
You can view the article below for additional troubleshooting tips and a video helps with diagnosing the door gasket. https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=34403

Love it.....so far.

We've only had this refrigerator installed for about 9 hours with nothing filled in yet. On Friday our 7 year old LG fridge quit, just quit. We had a very hard time finding one that we liked to fit the space for it. We looked all over town. Finally this one worked our space, design was great for the rest of the appliances and had everything we needed for us. Plus GE came highly recommended from a repair person. We'er hoping it lasts more than 7 years. However so far we are loving the look, the capacity and how quickly it started making ice. We know we need to wait before consuming the ice and that's OK. We'll have more time tomorrow putting the groceries back in the new fridge. All have been in the garage in coolers with bagged ice since Friday, today is Tuesday. One way to purge vintage foods stuck in back on the shelves.
