This refrigerator sounds like an organ grinder!!

This refrigerator is not worth the money! Sounds like an organ grinder. Wish I could record the sound it's making as I write this review! Never again will I purchase a GE appliance. Never!

Bought for size dimensions-replaced wth same

I bought this refrigerator due to the size constraints I had in the area of my kitchen it would fit. It is the same one that I had and got 9 years of use out of it. I would have bought another manufacturer's frig if the others had any better life to them - the others were worse than this one, so I bought it knowing it will not last as long as I think it should Some features here that make no sense at all in this model - The door shelf at the very bottom is useless - too shallow for anything other than a few cans of soda, and it gets completely hidden by the shelf above it. The freeze has two tiers with the upper one on rollers to get to the lower tier. They both come out when you open the freezer, so each and every time you have to push back the upper tier shelf to get the things in the lower tier. The ice tray is completely exposed and must fit into a notch on the upper shelf so every single time to you have to push that upper shelf back with a full container of ice in it. Really a pain in the neck, and NOT a really good design. The water filter works well - but again they changed the filter here and now I have to get filters for the change in design. The spout for the filtered water is skewed 20 degrees back so if you try to fill a large pitcher you have to place it at the bottom so the water will reach it, and then it splashes from the distance from the spout to the container. Again - NOT a really good design. The French doors tend to stay open even after a healthy push to close them so If you are in a rush you could have a door partially open but not open enough for the door alarm to let you know it is open. You have to place you hand on the handle of each door and give it good firm push closed for the doors to really be closed. They will NOT close themselves if the frig is leveled back to allow a normal door to self close. 3 stars is all you get here folks - I had hoped something by GE would stand up for 15 years at least. To get only 9 out of the same make and model lowers my expectations, and the new design flaws only tell me to look for a replacement in a few years with someone elses model, assuming I can get it to fit in the space I have.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good fridge so far

Works really well for the month that I have had it. The inside shelves seem to be fine, but I wouldn't place a ton of weight toward the front center of the shelf since it isn't supported. Lots of options to move them and the door shelves around.

Overall, the fridge is great. It looks great, it functions well ,it’s very deep, not noisy and holds a lot. I bought it because I wanted a water dispenser but not one on the outside that takes up room. It does have one internally with a little hose/straw type spigot that comes out. My only complaint is that I wish that little hose/straw like thing was a little bit longer (and dispensed faster) because I tend to spill the water. The other drawback is that you have to have the door open the whole time when you get water from it. However, it does save on space. Overall, I do really like the fridge.

I got this fridge for my parents who just like simplicity and commodity. This refrigerator has lots of space, has a simple water dispenser, and ice maker. We certainly enjoy the quality of GE products and most importantly their affordability!
