When the motor operates for long periods or cycles on and off frequently, this can be due to hot weather or frequent door openings. Adaptive defrost keeps the compressor running during door openings. The refrigerator will cycle off after the
door remains closed for 2 hours. This also often occurs when large amounts of food are placed in the fridge or when temperature controls are set in the coldest setting. Modern refrigerators with more storage space and a larger freezer require more operating time. They start and often stop to maintain even temperatures.
