Very happy overall

This is such an improvement over our other refrigerator that I hesitated between giving it 4 or 5 stars. Overall, I am really loving it. It is my first bottom freezer and first French door refrigerator and I love both features. The space available in the refrigerator section is much greater and finding food in it is quite easy compared to the tendency for items to get hidden in the back of the old one. However, there are some less than ideal features. First of all, I just assumed that in this day and age, most if not all of the shelves would slide out, which that don't. Secondly, the ice maker is quite noisy ( though the refrigerator itself is very quiet) and you must turn it off manually when the ice compartment is full. This would be fairly easy to do except that the button is all the way in the back and the freezer is deep, and, of course low. The button is difficult to see, and takes a bit of doing to reach. I'm not sure how people with short arms manage, and if you don't check it regularly, you have ice cubes spilling into other parts of the freezer.
Back on the plus side, the cold seems to be very evenly distributed, and it is simple to adjust the temperature.

Icemaker issues from day one

The water line wouldn't work right, kept freezing. The freezer would freeze then defrost. This was constant regardless of speaking to techs at GE, suggestions on Google for troubleshooting GE fridge problems, etc. Needed service by GE within 3 days of having it!! Needed replacement within a week. BUT, with the replacement fridge, the first 2 days have been good so far.... Keeping fingers crossed!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Freezer space

Just got this installed. I was limited to buying this model because of the space in which it was being installed. I can tell, even before I load everything into it, that the freezer space is a third smaller than the one I had to replace. Everything else seems to be good.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

One Cool Box

First time I have owned a French Door refrigerator. Amazed at storage capacity and ability to see what is on the shelves. Love the ice cube tray and chilled filtered water port inside the refrigerator. Very quiet refrigerator except when the ice drops into the tray. Like the ability to set various degrees of cold in storage bins for vegetables and meats. LED lighting inside great. Alarm if refrigerator door is left open too long.
