Big Refrigerator for a Narrow Opening

We looked extensively for a refrigerator with an internal water dispenser and ice maker to fit in our limited sized opening. This refrigerator met those needs and offered the cubic feet of storage we thought was only available in a wider refrigerator. Well done GE!

Works but serious limitations on drawers

We ditched the Samsung due to chronic icing issues. This GE seems to have a decent defrost cycle and keeps ice-free. HOWEVER, the cheese/egg/butter drawer under the produce drawers is AWFUL. It only opens outward about 50% of it's full depth. Since it is a low profile drawer, there is no way to reach into the back half of the drawer to easily retrieve items. You have to twist your forearm to fish stuff out.
The ice maker is very efficient but a lot of ice ends up falling out of the full bin and down behind the drawer to the bottom of the freezer space... out of sight, out of mind? the sensor to shut off ice production needs to be adjustable or factory set at a lower volume.
Produce drawer is way too small and like the cheese/egg/butter drawer below, doesn't open far enough to easily access the contents.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great frig

The refrigerator covers all of our needs and is very handy. It is a little noisy especially when the ice drops into the pan in the freezer but it does a great job over-all. Would recommend it to anyone.

Three strikes and I'm done with GE Refrigerators

This is our third GE (GNE25JYKHFFS) in less than 20years, all French door models. The one before this only lasted 7 years. Prior to the death of the other two you'd hear horrible noises. Not even 3 months old and this refrigerator is already making a noise and the freezer is acting up! Freezer food is defrosting.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We'd like to assist you with your refrigerator. Your unit has an adaptive defrost/frost guard feature. This means that the refrigerator will only defrost as needed. It accounts for door openings and compressor run time to determine when it is necessary to defrost and how long the defrost cycle needs to run. If the refrigerator is not being frequently used (for example, your family is on vacation), it will not defrost as often.

While we understand the importance of an appliance and its parts lasting for a long period of time. It is not possible to determine the product or part failure rate, lifespan, life expectancy, or life cycle of an appliance. There are multiple variables involved such as frequency of use, type of use, location of appliance, care, and maintenance.

Couldn't be happier!

We have had this baby for several weeks now. It looks great and has more space than we know what to do with. We needed a more narrow fridge than standard, very happy we didn't have to sacrifice storage. Also love how sleek it looks with the hidden water. Highly recommended, blows our old fridge out of the water!
