Poorly Designed Water Dispenser and Placement

Putting the water dispenser inside of the fridge door is among one of the worst design decisions I’ve encountered. Not only does this undermine the supposed energy efficiency of this appliance, it makes what had previously been a quick and intuitive process tedious to say the least.
The recessed portion under the dispensing button isn’t nearly deep enough to get the short tube where the water comes from comfortably into whatever vessel you’re filling up. So not only are you forced to position your vessel at some awkward and uncomfortable angle, chances are water is going to spill out all over the bottom of the fridge and the magnetic seal on the freezer and then into the freezer when you open the drawer to wipe up the spill.
This, along with the height it’s positioned makes using the dispenser a two-hand job since you can’t simply set the glass down to fill it.
The dispensing button is not the easiest to press and hold which exacerbates the previously mentioned challenges even further. To top it off, the water dispenses at a pace that can only be called glacial. And of course, because the fridge has to be open while you slowly try to fill your glass, the alarm that signals that the door is open goes off, meaning you have to stop what you’re doing, and press the alarm button to turn it off.
In short, putting the water dispenser inside the fridge and having the water slowly come out of what barely qualifies as an apparatus while making a mess is the epitome of why innovation for the sake of innovation is ruining functional design.
The people don’t want you to replace time tested features that don’t need improvement with something new and “cutting edge”. It’s like keyless ignitions for cars. It looks cool I guess, but it’s unnecessary and needlessly complicates things that were already so so so simple and efficient.
Otherwise, the fridge is decently spacious and cold.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love how bright it is, the 3 sources of light inside are well placed. It is occasionally a little loud when running but it's not a deal breaker by any means. The only thing I hate is how expensive the replacement filters are. I really wish they could lower the price of those.

Beautiful and functional! This fridge is huge! We love the amount of space and ease of adjusting shelves and bins. A big let down though is the water dispenser inside. Not a great design. We’ve had this fridge for 2 weeks now and we’re very happy with it overall. We’re in the middle of a kitchen renovation and did not plan on having to get a new fridge, but now I’m glad we did!! Our old 8 yr old GE side by side didn't have the room that this one does so I’m super pleased with this French door design!

I’ve had this refrigerator/freezer for a year now and it is still working perfectly! The ice doesn’t freeze up like my previous ice maker always did! My only regret is NOT buying it sooner!

I waited four months 2024 to get this refrigerator from the manufacture. I love the GE sleek, clear glass led lighting inside the refrigerator. Needed to get a smaller one 24.7 cu ft due to limited space in my home. I wanted the ice dispenser on the door, another size would be too wide and not able to open the 2 doors evenly. However, this size, looks, color, brand all work the best and I love the glossy black color. It was worth the wait!!
