It requires a lot of measuring as this machine is very sensitive to fabric cleaners. Often you get "error" messages on the screen.

This is my first front loading washer. I did my research and this machine is easy to use and saves on water and detergent. The dials are easy to understand. I think this machine is easier on the clothes than machines that have an agitator.

This washer seems about standard for what is out there. I bought it to replace the awful Maytag Neptune. I am happy to report that it is a vast improvement (although that's not really saying much). The "whitest whites" setting works well. Seems like it uses very little water because when it is running, I don't even see water in the drum. The interface seems unnecessarily cumbersome. It seems lie everyone builds these machines intentionally low so that you have to buy an expensive stand to put it on. I would prefer the controls to be on top rather than on the front of the machine, but that is just my preference.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We replaced an earlier model front load Whirlpool with this model. While the capacity is smaller than what we previously had, it actually work so to our advantage. Now our older Whirlpool Dryer, doesn't have to work so hard to dry the smaller loads that we get from the new, smaller washer. The best of both worlds.

I use less electricity, I hear less noise from the pair, they do what you want your washer and dryer to do, more efficiently than the older ones I've had. They stack, so they have a smaller footprint, leaving more room for other items around them. I love them. Good investment!

rugs/bath mats/lint driven garments -beware

F9 E1 - took all owner manual "troubleshooting" steps but to no avail. Technician's visit noted the pump was blocked because the "lint catcher" was full of too much lint for the machine to efficiently pump the water out. This condition occurs when you wash too many items that throw off too much lint: rugs/bath mats and other lint type items. Bring those to your local laundry and save yourself time/frustration and a service call. Oh, the filter that catches lint etc. is located bottom right of lower removable panel and also do yourself a fig favor and empty all pockets of change. The machine catches most(in rubber surround or in lint filter) but if just one dime finds its way through that small opening between the drum and the rubber surround - major issue you do not want occur cheers ps my machine was less than 6 mos. old when F9 E 1 came into my laundry room but the machine itself is just a super washing machine
