Duet two

This is our second Duet washer. The first performed well but had various electronic control problems and an eventual bearing failure that forced it's replacement. I did extensive research in to competitor products and concluded that front loaders were all about on a par with Whirlpool's repair record. In the end we opted to stick with Whirlpool because it matched our dryer which does not need replacing yet. Our first duet lasted about 9 years. Gone are the days of a washer lasting 20 years. The same electronics that drive our TVs, ovens, dishwashers and washer/dryers and make them more efficient also make them more complicated. We've had this unit about four months now. We have noticed that it cleans our clothes noticeably better than the former duet, which is a plus and that the build quality seems better too. Here's hoping that this unit wins on the longevity scale too.

I purchased Duet model 9151YW on 12/19/11. From the first useage the washer makes a metallic click, click, click on the spin cycle and as it revs up on the final spin, the machine knocks, bangs and shakes violently. The shipping bolts were removed on installation and the washer is level and on a pedestal.

Adequate, but nothing more. Louder than it should be.

Bought for energy efficiency and am very happy with it for the price. I am seeing my whites get brighter white with each washing. My greasy jeans are coming on nice and with the spin speed it is taking less time to dry clothes. If you want a good quality, large capacity front load washer for a good price this is your machine. I bought this washer because my old one had it's transmission lock up. It was a whirlpool that was over 25 years old.

I like the ease of a front load washer but it takes to long ot wash. I don't have all day to do laundry. 90 min for one load is to long even if it does a good job .

Rips Clothes

We have had this washer for about two years now. It serves its purpose ok, it cleans the clothes and does that with a small amount of water and is also not too loud. There are a couple of complaints I have. One complaint is that the washer will say that there are only 5 minutes remaining and take another 15-20 minutes to finish. It is not very good at estimating the time so if you are in a hurry, then don't wash clothes that day. Another complaint I have is that if you fill this washer full of clothes it will tear some of them. One of the things I like about having a front loading washer is (so I thought) that you can pack them full! Not with this washer, you have to leave a good amount of space if you don't want your clothes to come out with holes or ripped to shreds.
