Yesterday, our kitchen main drain backed up. There was dirty water all over the kitchen floor. I started running our SCOOBA to get up the water. It took several tank emptyings/part cleanings, two charges, and a few hours, but it got ALL the water up and today our kitchen floor is so spotless that it looks like nothing happened at all. If I had tried to do this with a mop, I just would have pushed all the water onto the adjoining hardwood and spread the dirt around the entire kitchen floor. It would have been incredibly laborious and much less effective than the SCOOBA. TIP: I sometimes add a teaspoon or so of peppermint, vanilla, or almond extract to the clean water tank to make our floors smell extra-sweet.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Long Run Time
Cons: Can Get Stuck, Frequent Maintenance, Noisy

First I must mention iRobot's customer service is excellent! I bought my first unit when I had tile installed throughout my house. It worked great. It was not stated that the lever to remove the tank was not a handle (on my two Roombas there is a handle) so it broke but iRobot replaced it with no problem. Unfortunately the unit died in just less than two years. At the cost it was upsetting but once again iRobot made me a special offer to buy a new unit for under $200 but without the accesories which I didn't need any way. I prep the floor a little before using it. I use my two Roombas to do this and touch up the floor with a dust mop. The spots the cats make with hair balls need a little extra attention. Scooba won't scrub them hard enough to remove them completely. But very little effort is needed. I also touch up the corners and areas I know Scooba won't get and then run Scooba. Being a lazy person this isn't a big deal. I am very satisfied with the job when it's done cleaning. Sometimes I get tire tracks but I just clean the tires and use distilled water because Arizona water is very hard and can leave streaks. This solved the problem. I wish that they offered an extended warranty. Bottom line, if your time is valuable this is a good investment. I often run it before I leave the house on errands. When I get home it's done and the floor is dry.
Pros: Cleans fairly well, Easy to maintain

Great Cleaner!

We had the older light blue model a few years ago and it worked ok for 2 years then it broke..but this new model is much better, my wife uses it about once per week. She says she likes it mainly because she can start the unit and then go do some laundry, cooking or whatever else she needs to do...so it frees up ALOT of time not having to run a dirty mop all around the house, also she loves being able to use plain vinegar as it is inexpensive and no lingering residue on the tile...also works good on my hardwood floors in my den. We were a bit concerned over the unit breaking after the warranty period and being out [$] so I bought an extended 3 year warranty through SQUARE TRADE WARRANTIES online for i think around $70 or so bucks...so I am covered now for 4 years..AWESOME!
Pros: Cleans Great, Cleans with vinegar, Long Battery Life
Cons: Does not make breakfast

Fix the Tank!

I love my little Scooba. It's a great idea. However, I practically need a degree in engineering to fix it every time. The tank handle is not a latch. The latch breaks easily. The internal part that holds the tank in place breaks easily. For the next generation PLEASE use materials that are more durable and if it looks like a handle, make it strong enough to be a handle!

Amazing!

This is my first day of using Scooba, and it was a little tricky at first--I had to call customer service, but they quickly helped me and got it going. The representative was friendly and knowledgable. It did a wonderful job on on my textured tile floors. I had been using a Shark steam cleaner, and I was amazed at how dirty the finished water was! I'm not sure, yet, about my hardwood floors. I tried it first in the bedroom and was a little worried about the amount of water left in spots. I'll check it closely after it dries completely before I use it on the rest of the hardwood. It also got stuck under the edge of my dresser, but I will just get some risers for that if I decide to continue using it in the bedroom. Overall, I am very, very pleased with it. The post-use maintenance is not hard at all once you do it a couple of times. I'm glad I bought it and would definitely recommend it.

Front caster wheel problem took me quite a while to figure out. Upset at the waste of time troubleshooting something that should not wear out in 10-15 uses. Better design should have been created by now, but I robot is probably enjoying the replacement parts all of us are forced to buy.

Great purchase! We run it multiple times a day. We also have a Roomba, so we usually run the Roomba first, and then run the Scooba, because we have six dogs and the Scooba can't handle all of the hair and sand (which is to be expected, we have about a pound of hair on the floors by the end of the day). It does require a little time for the floors to completely dry afterwards, but again that's to be expected. I noticed that 'noisy' is often listed as a con, but it's no louder than a small vacuum, including our Roomba. It is RIDICULOUS to complain that it can't do stairs! It is a great addition to our Roomba! We love it, and highly recommend it!!

I love the way this washes ALL of my floors. This is my second Scooba. My first one, purchased on this site @ 2008 died last year of complications.(I'm sorry to admit, I was spoiled by my self-docking Roomba and probably didn't take care of Scooba the way I should have, especially when I was away for long periods.) I went without for awhile, because it is a pain to clean a Scooba the way they recommend every time, but I really missed its cleaning power. I bought my new one just before this Christmas. I first used it on a freshly vacuumed hardwood floor I had thoroughly mopped by hand a few days before. I could not believe how much more dirt Scooba picked up! The wooden floor was positively shining! Next, we went to my kitchen, where the grout looks better everytime Scooba attacks. Cleaning Scooba afterwards is a necessary evil, but I decided that if you clear debris to begin with, say with a broom or a Roomba, the debris that the Scooba picks up will be minimal, so Scooba will be easier to clean. It's hum is a bit loud, but comforting. It's not something that can run if you are watching TV in the next room. I also wish it was thinner so it would fit under my bed which has only a 3.5" clearance. I love this thing and I recommend it.
