Buyer Beware

We bought this fridge less than 5 years ago and we are on our 4th service call. Year 1 both motherboards went, year 2 the hose connector to the water dispenser broke, ruining our wall beside it. Next all internal lights went and please know that the lights are not individual lights. They are on a strip so when one goes all of them go and it needs to be replaced. It’s not something you can do yourself like the old-school fridges. Now the icemaker is broken and not making ice and as we are waiting for our new part, we have noticed the fridge is barely cooling, and we are constantly having to throw out food so I’m sure that will be another service call needed. This is KitchenAid’s top-of-the-line fridge and we have had nothing but problems. Buyer beware.

Problem after Problem

We bought this refrigerator along with a KitchenAid microwave and dishwasher about 5 years ago. The ice-make doesn't make ice. That's been going on for a few years. Now the freezer is not cooling properly. One compartment's cooling feature also does not work. The microwave's clock & timer are partially lit. Incredibly frustrating after paying a lot for what we thought were quality appliances! How long should a KitchenAid refrigerator last??

NOT WORTH IT

$4,800 refrigerator but has $700 quality to the build. Trim falling off, soft close drawers no longer work, front door doesn’t stay closed all the way.

Worsted refrigerator I’ve ever owned

This frig has been a disaster. We’ve had to repaired multiple times for several different reasons. Currently the water stream is weak and ice production is the latest problem. Worse frig I’ve ever had

Terrible Warranty/Repair service.

Fridge broke in less than 2 years and have been waiting over 2 months for a repair which will at least be another month at minimum by the time the tech comes out again and orders parts and wait again for parts. Over 2 months with a broken fridge is unacceptable. I was patient until now. The fridge was great until
It broke. Will write a proper review once fridge is working again.

Nightmare after ~ 1.5yrs

Extremely disappointed in the reliability of the refrigerator. It has all the nice features but we constantly have issues. When we bought it <2yrs later both radiators had to be replaced due to a coolant leak. The temperature sensor was designed in the wrong location so the refrigerator radiator iced up and as a result the temperature never got cold enough. The LED lights in the refrigerator stopped working and had to be replaced. The freezer door drawers (both of them) front panels don't fit correctly and when you try to open the drawer the panel comes off. Now we have been dealing with the open door alarm for over a year and no one (2 repair guys) can fix it. It's been a nightmare. If you get 1 that does what it's supposed to do it's a really nice refrigerator.

Best Freezer Layout Out There

I purchased this refrigerator several years ago and love it. Three things sold me. 1. The build, it was much sturdier than others I was looking at, the quality of materials appeared to be much better. 2. The look, classy. 3. What really sold me was the 3 freezer drawers, they are the best! Three drawers all very functional. I do a lot of cooking and freezing leading up to the holidays. I can store large trays in the top two drawers! No other refrigerators that I looked at had the storage layout that this one did. I bought it and never second guessed my decision. I love it!

Absolutely LOVE my refrigerator!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had my refrigerator almost 2 years now. I absolutely LOVE it!!! The platinum inside plus the lighting makes it very easy to see what is in there. I love the drawers in the refrigerator plus the separate drawers out of the refrigerator for produce - one of which you can control the temperature separately. Probably my favorite feature is the freezer with 2 pull out shelves, a larger lower section and a small pocket in the door. It’s just my husband and me, so when I buy meats, fish or poultry, I package it in ziplocks with date. The top shelf I use for this. The second shelf I use for frozen vegetables, and the larger bottom section we use for frozen dinners and other items that are larger. In addition to all that, there is a front pocket in the door for pizza. Puff pastry boxes also fit in there great! LOVE LOVE LOVE the freezer! The temperature is also controlled very well in all sections.
I would recommend this to a friend!
