Better luck the second time around… I hope

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is our second Kitchenaid multi-door refrigerator in 8 months as the first one was replaced by the manufacturer, Whirlpool. We started to notice frost on our food, and finally realized it was a temperature issue. The temperature in the freezer was spiking to 45 degrees randomly, and despite numerous repairs, couldn’t be fixed, so it was replaced. We had purchased temperature data loggers in the fridge and freezer, to get an idea of temperature fluctuations. The replacement unit was going up to 30 degrees during the defrost cycle, with the freezer set at -4 degrees, which happens every 12-14 hours, but after adjusting the temperature to-2 degrees, is only going up to about 15 degrees and doesn’t seem to be affecting the food. The colder it is set, -5 is the coldest, the higher it seems to spike during the defrost cycle. The refrigerator temp has been fine in both units. For the cost of this unit, it should definitely have the ability to give current temperature readings. It should also have an onboard computer for the technicians to see what is going on. Also note that this unit is not fingerprint resistant, and very difficult to clean prints off. You definitely need stainless steel cleaner and microfiber to clean it. I have to say that I love the space and the lighting. The icemaker works great but doesn’t make much ice. I also have to say that although it is not a fun experience to have refrigerator issues, Whirlpool does stand behind their product for repair and replacement, thankfully.

It breaks all the time!

I would not recommend this fridge. It looks nice but it breaks all the time! We have had it for 4 years and had multiple issues from the start. When it was delivered the water function was broken. A year ago lights inside broke, replaced. This year, lights inside broke again plus deli drawer control panel is out. All gaskets on the doors are broken. Stuff in freezer gets a thick ice build up and icicles everywhere constantly. My friends have same fridge and multiple problems. Too bad because it's nice looking fridge and comfortable but sooo expensive....

Worst. Avoid!

This refrigerator came with our new construction home 3 years ago. It's been nothing but issues since day one. The freezer drawers broke almost immediately, the interior lights work when they want to, and now our water dispenser is turning on and off at will whether there's a cup there or not. The two smaller drawers are worthless and the interior cold storage is small. We cannot wait to replace this appliance! Our appliance tech says it's his most serviced refrigerator.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
