Nothing But Trouble

We purchased refrigerator model KRMF706EBS in mid 2017 and have run into nearly every issue described on it starting the first year. The freezer will not automatically defrost (I have to force on in maintenance mode every week), the water/ice dispenser randomly stops working (I have to reset our breaker to fix), and water pools up under the pull-out drawers due to condensation drain clogs. I have replaced numerous circuit boards over this time which was supposed to fix some of these issues (but hasn't) and God forbid you ever have to get to the evaporator coils as it requires you disassemble the entire fridge or freezer (Look it up on repair clinic).
We no longer feel comfortable leaving our house for extended periods of time due to the fear of arriving to a flooded unit and/or spoiled food, and have made the decision to purchase something else before the thing completely fails. The only positive outcome of this fridge is that it will help certify you as an appliance repair person once you get fed up paying for someone to come tell you the thing is a lemon.

same problems with the fridge

From day 1 all the interior of the fridge kind of melted. It looks horrible, after spent that $$$ it was a huge disappointment, used to have a cheap LG and it was so much better quality and 1/3 of the price. Extended Warranty bought BY KITCHEN AID WORTHLESS. many issues besides the interior. Never again KITCHEN AID

Worse purchase ever!

Wanted to provide an update after a year with this terrible refrigerator that you do not support. The KRMF706ESS01 is the worst refrigerator anyone could by. We have had nothing but issues with the water sticking and at times overflowing. No one can figure out the problem. We gave gad light issues, freezer issues after 2 1/2 years with this mess we a saving for another brand but will never purchase a Kitchenaid refrigerator or microwave again. I tell everyone I know to stay away from these products. The customer support on the refrigerator sucks! I gave Kitchenaid multiple opportunities to correct or replace but all Kitchenaid states is this is the design - between the water sticking, rusting, freezer issues and light issues - you tell me would you purchase a Kitchenaid?

Horrible

Absolute waste of money. When I remodeled my kitchen I replaced my 20 year old refrigerator, which worked perfectly, with this KitchenAid model. I bought this refrigerator along with the matching range, microwave and dishwasher. The refrigerator (upper) section failed, and slowly warmed up to 50 degrees, which resulted in losing all my perishables - and waited 2 weeks for the repairman to get parts. I've had the icemaker replaced 4 times. The icemaker motor and the refrigerator main motherboard (printed circuit board) have also been replaced. When the icemaker stops working the ice will melt and drain through the ice/water dispenser. This refrigerator has been a total waste of my hard-earned money. Its a good looking refrigerator but looks don't really matter if the appliance doesn't work. The total repair costs along with my lost wages in waiting on repairmen have far exceeded the original (high) cost of this refrigerator.

Does not cool consistently - may have to replace

Strongly recommend against buying this. I bought this 2 years ago. After 9 months temperatures in the fridge section started rising and food spoiling (e.g. as high as 55 degrees after it has been closed overnight). Freezer unaffected. Repair visit under warranty found no issues. Killing the power to reset it seems to work sometimes but after a week or two the temperature starts rising again. We will try one more repair visit and if they do not have a confident diagnosis we will buy another brand.

I expected better

We purchased this fridge in 2016. 2 years and 2 months later the compressor failed and had to be replaced. 2 years after that it appears the circuit board is shot and needs replacing (at least I hope that is all, we won't know until they come back out with a new board so they can test it). Bottom line, we paid a lot of money for what we thought would be a quality product, not one that we have now had to pay 1/2 again the cost of a new fridge. This will be the last KitchenAid/Whirlpool appliance we purchase. We did not purchase the extended warranty, didn't feel it would be needed at least twice in the first 4 years of owning the product. I expected better for what I believed to be a higher end product in their lineup. I love the layout and design, just not the quality and reliability of this fridge.

Poor Default Design with No Resolution from KA

I purchased this model one year ago. The electrical panel of the left side mini-drawer has shorted out twice. It has a poor location design that does not account from water that may occasionally drip from the water and ice descended that does not have a catch tray. This time my refrigerator lights have been going on and off for hours and now is reading a Power Failure(PF) message and was not cooking properly. I’m highly disappointed and quite annoyed as the technician didn’t have the correct parts to repair the problem. The motor is running loud and not cooling or freezing our food. KA has failed to offer us a resolve to this issue.
