Worst appliance I have ever owned!

My husband and I purchased this refrigerator for our retirement home less than 4 years ago. We have had a repairman look at it because it stopped making ice and the freezer wasn’t working. There was a buildup of ice on the condenser which he defrosted. Since then, it has completely shut down. I can hear the motor running, but the only thing working on it are the lights on the water dispenser. We have wasted money on repairs and parts, and have had to buy another refrigerator for the garage. We also had to pay for labor to replace the control panel on our Ktchen Aid microwave.
We are retired and live on a fixed income. We cannot afford to waste money on a refrigerator that doesn’t work!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nothing but Trouble

Do not buy this refrigerator. We purchased this fridge several years ago and it has been noting but trouble. When it works, it works great. We have had to have the ice maker serviced several times and the freezer multiple times. I have to take the freezer apart every 2 weeks and defrost it manually. This causes my food to be ruined and the ice maker nonfunctioning. This KitchenAid has great potential, but is not worth the money we spent. Had it fixed under warranty 3 different times, but when the extended warranty runs out you are dead in the water. You have to be an electrical engineer to diagnose this thing yourself. If you're interested in this model, I hope you have more luck than we did!

Repairs Galore...

We've had this 6 years. Really nice features and loved it until the issues started around year 5. Now we are 5 repair man visits down for 3 different issues. Currently we have waited 3 weeks and still can't get a warranty repair man to come out and fix the sealed refrigeration system (still under materials warranty but not labor). I don't know if it's worth it to keep fixing it or just get a new one at this point.

DO NOT BUY

I have had this refrigerator for a few years but wanted to write a review since I am having problems with all of my KitchenAid appliances. I bought this refrigerator thinking with the name and price point that it would last me many years. It worked fine for about 6 months then the problems began. The refrigerator does not make ice. Maybe once every few months it will give me ice. So only ice I get is made from a plastic ice tray. The ice that I make can not even be made in this refrigator I have to make it in another refrigator freezer. The bottom freezer freezes up develops ice then the drawer will not close. Then it stopped working all together so as of now the freezer section is not being used. Called appliances repair and he said lines froze up he unthawed them and then the same routine began again. Ice buildup then after ice was removed the freezer didn't work. I have lost a lot of food due to these problems. The whole thing makes no sense to me or anyone else. BASICALLY, I HAVE PRICEY APPLIANCES THAT DO NOT FUNCTION. I am a real estate appraiser and enter a lot of homes. There are homes that have regular refrigerators and old refrigerators, and they function properly. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM BECAUSE IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS, THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU. I will not put another penny into these appliances. I am taking my loss which is quite a bit and replacing them all. I cannot resell them in good faith due to knowing their history.

LOVE this fridge, however, it is TERRIBLE!

It turns itself off regularly, which lets the ice melt & it leaks all over the front of the machine & ALL over my wood floors. We've had 2 tech's come work on it & it still shuts itself off. It's truly a piece of junk, save your money!!!

Do NOT purchase!

This refrigerator is beautiful; however, it is the worst investment we ever made. We have owned this for less than five years and have had nothing but issues. After a year of owning it had to be repaired due to not cooling. Imagine just delivering twins and discovering your milk stored in the refrigerator was room temperature! Besides having cooling issues, we have also had problems with the freezer and ice maker. Our freezer currently is full of frost and the top drawer sticks. So disappointing that Kitchenaid is not what it once was because we were extremely excited about this purchase and upgraded all of the kitchen appliances at once. I wish we waited because the only one that has yet to give us an issue is the dishwasher.

Poorly designed and defective

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For such a pricy fridge, it's terrible.
I hate the layout, I hate how the water and ice dispenser take up so much room. I hate the awkward position of the water nozzle which makes it hard to fill up large containers. I hate how easily it smudges while at the same time I hate that only the front has stainless steel.
To make matters worse the electronics are faulty, the lights, and the dispenser don't always work. So annoying.
Stay away from this poorly designed, overpriced piece of junk
