Horrible - Dripping Water from Ice Maker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Constantly having water drip from the ice maker inside the top left of fridge, every day or two it happens. Had fan replaced and temperatures checked and they have no clue what's causing it nor how to fix it.

Water is dripping under the ice tray in the door and freezing, dripping onto my shelves and drawers causing large puddles and mold growth, and sometimes we wake up in the morning with a puddle on our hardwood floors. It's a disaster.
Tech has been to our house 3 times, and they're coming again for a 4th visit to replace a bunch of electronics (they're grasping at straws at this point). After just a few minutes of searching through all the reviews, I've found 16 complaints with the same issue as me, and I've found many more similar complaints on different (but similar) models. I'm sure if I kept reading reviews I'd come across many more.
If there wasn't a dripping water disaster, the fridge would be great. Great storage, drawers, shelving, good size, good looking, functional and quiet. Ice maker doesn't really keep up with demand sometimes, but that's any any maker. Only complaint would be that the water dispenser ejects water as more of a spray than a smooth stream, so you get splashing outside of your cup.
At this point, after months of repair visits and frustrations, I wouldn't recommend this product to anybody.

Impressive organization/storage of food

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this fridge a couple months ago and it just keeps impressing me!
There is so much smart storage in it and the exterior pull out drawers are fabulous! We use the programmable one for cheese & butter. The vegetable one is terrific for celery, cucumbers, zucchini and carrots and the interior produce bins hold the rest. The recessed compartment inside holds our eggs and limes, giving easy access for both. Plenty of shelf space to store leftovers and lots of room for condiments.
We eat a lot of veggies and I have yet to come home with groceries and not be able to put everything away.
We are wasting less food because everything is visible. The interior lighting is superb.
We highly recommend this fridge! Extremely satisfied with this purchase.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Beautiful inside and out

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got my beautiful refrigerator delivered just before Christmas and I'm amazed at how much you can store inside it. The two drawers area bonus. I love how I can store meat in them so as not to contaminate anything else in the fridge. The 3 freezer drawers are large and everything is easily visible. The ice maker is such a space saver hidden inside the door. What's not to like about it. The outside is strong and well built and the handles are beautiful.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Continually breaks down

I would not buy this fridge. Today mine stopped working for the third time in 2.5 years. The first two times the freezer stopped working and this week the top refrigerator section stopped working. Very frustrating! My 18 year old Maytag hasn’t need service one time. Not worth the money.

Doesn't seem like Kitchenaid makes this anymore

We purchased this refrigerator from two different retailers and neither could get it delivered to us since they never received the refrigerator from the manufacturer. Every distributor has this refrigerator backordered. Hopefully Kitchenaid is improving the appliance per all the problems described in the negative reviews on this site and any site that sells this appliance. If not, they should take it off the market.

Poor Design of ice aggitator, LED Board burnt out.

Ice agitator motor freezes and locks. Replaced twice in first year, easy enough under warranty, now costly. Rust spot develops on inside tray under ice maker.
LED Light power supply on board gone ($400), locks out water and ice dispenser.

Nothing but problems!

We’ve had this fridge for only 3 years and in that time, motor parts have been replaced 2x to fix the freezer as it was not keeping anything frozen. With that said, it also made a loud buzzing sound because of the issue, again 2x. The local appliance shop where we bought it tried to fix it several times and finally gave up and did not even charge us because they know this fridge model can have issue. Very disappointing!

Would not recommend

We bought this fridge in 2016 (it's currently 2020) along with an oven, microwave, and eventually we got the dishwasher to match.
From about 6 months in, I started getting frustrated with this model of fridge. The ice dispenser location in the door of the refrigerator section, in particular, is a poor design decision. The thawing and refreezing that happens causes ice build up in the gears of the dispenser, so it frequently stops dispensing ice. It is *incredibly* frustrating for someone who likes cold beverages pretty much around the clock.
Additionally, after 3.5 years with the fridge, and using it a standard amount for just 2 people, the internal freezer drawers have started to come apart. There is an edging that goes across the two drawers that has started to separate from the rest of the drawer. It appears, ironically, that whatever adhesive was used to put it in place can't take the cold. ::shrugs:: My best guess, anyway.
Today, the fridge simply stopped working. It was fine one moment, and then the next time a door was opened, it was all off. It's still plugged in, and the lights on the dispenser are working, but the lights inside the fridge are off. As the day has progressed, it's become clear that the fridge is not working...the motor is out. Everything is warming up and thawing out. Fortunately, we bought the 5 year extended warranty from the outlet we purchased from, and they are sending out a technician in 2 days. I'm expecting that the motherboard (or whatever it might be called in a fridge) needs replacing, and will probably need to be ordered, and I'd imagine we're out a fridge for a good week or more, here. (We're lucky to have another full sized fridge in our basement, thankfully.)
We do not recommend this fridge. It's been more trouble than it's worth, between the dispenser issues and now breaking completely after just 3.5 years of use. It IS roomy, and has all kinds of cool ways to adjust shelves, and nifty drawers to store things in, but the frustration of the ice dispenser alone has made me regret the purchase for the last 3 years. Having it break down completely on top of that issue is not endearing.
