Wouldn’t hold a charge

Grinding Power

Previously owned the Cuisinart separate Salt and Pepper mill and had a good outcome with it. This is the newer model where it is one unit that you can put the salt and pepper on each side. The issue with this unit has to do with the grinding power specifically with coarse salt. No problem with the pepper that grinds perfectly, but the salt frequently freezes up and it seems to get stuck and will not work. The coarse salt seems to be too big and strong for the grinding power and it gets stuck. So we had to grind the salt up more to make it work. Sent the 1st unit back thinking it was defective, but the second unit acted the same way. We can get it to work, but there is definitely a lack of grinding power compared to the previous unit. We found some let course salt that seems to work better, but never had this issue with our older Cuisinart. Needs to be updated with more grinding power.

Rocky start...

I received this mid-May as a gift. It would not take a charge so Cuisinart sent a replacement charging base even though it was clear it was the battery in the unit itself. The replacement arrived but the issue remained. The light would start flashing. Finally a complete replacement was sent and it seems to work as described. Nothing like looking at a birthday gift that doesn't work.

Things I like:
-- It's rechargeable so you don't have to worry about batteries.
-- It's one piece for both the salt and pepper grinder.
-- The grinder itself feels well made.
-- The style is nice and modern.
-- It doesn't have the unnecessary battery-draining light that some grinders have.
-- It grinds quickly.
Things I don't like:
-- It gets stuck sometimes (even when the battery is charged), so you have to jigger with the locking mechanism to get it to work again.
-- The base looks and feels cheap.
Overall, I'm happy with it.
