You know these bags are not meant for the freezer, I missed that and bought a lot of them thinking I could reuse them for things in my freezer, they loose their seal in the freezer, shocked me, I totally missed they don't work there, it should be more prominent in the description, it's easy to miss, Argggg! In my opinion these are not worth the money for just the refrigerator, get good zip lock bags and remove as much air as you can with those.

I'm sorry for any confusion! The Vacuum Zipper bags are designed for refrigerator items, such as deli meats and cheeses, or pantry items that you access everyday. We do not recommend them for long-term freezer storage, but they will help refrigerator and pantry items keep their freshness up to five times longer. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. I have forwarded your comments regarding the description to the appropriate department so that we can possibly avoid any confusion about the intended use for the bags in the future.

I like to try different types of cheese and when I find one I really like I buy in large size. As I have many different types, I use the Zipper bag to keep them fresh for a long period of time. I can then open the bag, slice whatever amount I want, then re seal the bag. It keeps the product fresh and I have yet to throw out moldy cheese.

Poor Vacuum retention

I have used these quart and gallon vacuum zippers many times before and had very few problems until recently. Now I keep having problems with both the quart and gallon FoodSaverFreshSaver bags not retaining its vacuum. I recently purchased, 2 bags of 18 ct qt size vacuum zipper bags and 1 bag of 20 ct gallon size vacuum zipper bags. All of these would seal fine, but a decent amount of these bags, at least 30% of the ones that I have used so far, started losing their vacuum at around 2-2 1/2 days, some have lost all vacuum by 4-6 days, next 30 to 40% lost all vacuum by days 8 to 10-11. So far of all used from this batch all vacuum was lost by day 13, except for three, Of all the ones I have used so far from this batch batch, there are only 3 qt size that have maintained a vacuum. One has been in the refrigerator for 19 days containing mango slices, one in the freezer for 16 days containing cooked sausage patties and the other 15 day refrigerated with mango. I've pulled from the top, bottom and middle of the stack and it was coming from both 18ct bags of the quart ones. I've thrown away the bad ones other wise I would add a photo of a failed one.

Easy to Use and Reuse

I like that these are reusable, take up very little space, and easily show the food stored, so I don't have to stand with the fridge door open trying to figure out what I've got. Since I don't buy packaged food very often, it's really helpful to have a way to package the food I get directly from the farm or for aging cheeses I've made at home. I like the easy access to the products and the extended shelf life too.

I purchased the hand held vacuum, the 18 pack qt. bags and the 20 pack gal. bags. The qt. size seems too small and the gal. size too large. I don't use it much. I don't know if there is a difference in dimension on the 18 pack qt. and the 34 pack qt. or if that would even matter. The gal. size is usually way too large and seems wasteful to use it. Consequently I don't use the vacuum much. If you had a 2 qt (1/2 gal). bag I think I would get much more use of the system.

HANDY - but.....

I really like the convenience of the zip function - but I have had a few of the bags not hold the seal when I placed them in the freezer. I bought them with the hopes of using them a few times to re-seal cookies and veggies... I am lucky to be able to use them 2x before they start to leak air in. I guess I'll go back to the regular seal bags. Too bad.

We're sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with our zipper bags. These bags were designed for foods that require refrigeration or room temperature storage, however they are not approve for long term freezer use. This causes air to "leak" back into the bag and gives unfavorable results. For assistance locating the right bags for your lifestyle, call us at 1-877-777-8042 Monday-Friday 8am-8pm, and Saturday 9am-6pm EST. Thanks!
