I bought a hand-held Fresh Saver device about 3 months ago, thinking it might reduce the amount of cheese I throw away. It certainly has done that, and it also kept our sliced lunchmeat much fresher during a camping trip than we're used to. So I bought a small stash of bags, large and small, during a recent Food Saver sale. Prior to that I'd been washing and reusing bags, and they hold up very well -- the only ones I've thrown away are those that just seemed too messy to wash.

I have been using the Quart and Gallon size now for about 4 weeks. My wife and I are the only ones in our family and buy small packages of cheese, ham and other meats for sandwiches etc. We use to wrap them in plastic zip bags or putting them in plastic Tupperware type containers to keep them in the frig. well we got tired of the celery and cheese getting light grey ends to my veg and little specks of grey mold on cheese and lunch meats.
Well I just had some celery out of the long Vacuum Food Saver container and some cheese from a vacuum Quart Zipper Bag and NO mold specks. Even the celery snapped as I broke it in half. I was really surprised that I could open the cheese zipper vacuum bag now for at least four times and it still holds tight seal!
