Warning: Hot surface!!

Very disappointed to learn new stoves do not have the insulation under the stovetop as older models do. The surface, when cooking or baking, becomes so hot it is unsafe to touch. Do not set a metal spoon on the stovetop as it will burn your hand when picked up! The panel where the burner knobs are also gets very hot when the oven is on, especially in the back right corner near the vent. Needed the coil burners as I do canning, which flattop surfaces do not support, and am not a fan of gas stoves. Also disappointed the oven light does not come on automatically when the oven door is opened.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

OVEN HEATS UP TOP OF STOVE

When the oven is on, even at 350 degrees the entire top of the stove becomes extremely hot. The higher the temperature, the hotter the stove top becomes and it’s too hot to even touch and heats up the cook and the kitchen. And it takes a long time to cool off. Also, hot air pours from the oven through the gap above the oven handle. The hot air does NOT come out of
the vents behind the handle. A technician came and said the vent in the back burner was working properly.

I love to new range. It wasn't installed an hour when I received a text from our granddaughter requesting brownies–just to make sure the oven worked correctly. ;) It worked beautifully. I am very pleased with the purchase.
Furthermore I was impressed with the installers. Very professional and pleasant.

GE electric coil range

New range and so far, so good. The wife thinks it takes too long to reach baking temps....pre-heat in other words; but seems a minor thing. Not sure how I will like digital baking set up in stead of the old knobs....will see. Will say, Consumer Reports rated this one as the best in class....

I bought this a few weeks ago and very happy with the features it offers, small enough to fit in my small kitchen but large enough to do any job of any other electric range. Self cleaning feature is always a plus!

Storage drawer has NO handle and is Very difficult
