Some great features, upper oven difficult to clean

The choice of many different cooking modes is nice. The probe feature in the lower oven is great. I have double-checked it with an expensive instant-read thermometer and it is accurate. It takes the guess work out of cooking meat to the exact doneness you want. The biggest drawback to this appliance is the difficulty cleaning the back wall of the upper oven. The oven is deep and the door opens down so you would need to have arms about 4 feet long to be able to reach the back wall. If you use the oven frequently on microwave as we do, this is a problem.

The oven came with our recently built house. We selected it as an upgrade option. Overall we're happy with the look and design of the oven, but have a few comments: - The door hinges swing too freely so the oven slams open or slams closed. Would be good if GE could add some resistance to slow it down. - The Clock does not stay on permanently. You have to push the dial and it only stays on for 5mins. This is frustrating when you're hands are full or dirty, but you need to take a quick glance at the clock. GE needs to add an option that allows the customer to keep the clock on permanently. I realize GE probably didn't add this feature because it consumes power, but that's why you set it up as an option for customers to decide. Besides, how much power could a small digital clock consume? - The Single Dial approach forces you to go through too many menus just to use the microwave (instead of a number pad). The customer has to push and turn the dial to make selections for microwave (cooking time, cooking level, etc...). Not many people really ever mess with cooking level, so that's a wasted step in my opinion. It would have been nice to allow the customer to just push the 30sec button (or add a minute button) to immediately start the microwave; then push multiple times to increase the time.

Not Impressed

I have had this unit for two weeks now and I am thoroughly disappointed in its performance. The microwave is extremely weak on power, it takes 2 minutes on high to soften a stick of butter- not melt, just soften. It takes 4 minutes to warm a cup of coffee- not boil it, just warm it to hot. Compared to my previous unit, which performed in 1/4 of the time. The convection oven is also a let down. I baked scones yesterday, in my old oven, 12 minutes were browned perfection. 25 minutes in this poor performing unit and they were not browned, just dried out and blah. Skip this unit, I am not sure where all the good reviews are coming from!

I bought GEonogrsm and advantium prodictsnfornmybnew house 5’years ago. My refrigerator (monogram) stopped working twice , my advantium oven/micro board died and my indoor/outdoor fridge died. All in 2-5 years. I will never buy GE Products again.

Disappointing

We have been using this unit for six months now. I thought I would get used to some of the poorly engineered controls, but they have only become more annoying. The dial requires a lot more effort to use than a simple keypad would. A keypad could also disappear when not activated, making it sleeker and easier to clean.. The timer always defaults to setting hours and minutes--I certainly use minutes and seconds far more often. The microwave is slow, as is preheating the oven. Changing out the glass and metal turntables in the advantium is a pain in the neck--doesn't sound like it would be, but this an appliance for speed. For the amount of money spent, I was expecting more. Don't even get me started on the incredibly annoying timer alert...I recommend with reservations.

DO not buy GE advantium ovens. They are overpriced and a sheer bad product. Too many problems.
