It is a good product with reasonable sound level and appearance. I suggest the manufacturer should provide 2 bulbs along with unit which will give a customer satisfaction with little money and not to waste time on what bulb it fits.

I expected this being a Broan to be quieter than my old hood, but it is still loud even at the lowest setting. I also wish the buttons to turn on both the light and fan were either a knob or something that is easier to locate without having to look up into the hood as mine is surrounded by a decorative wooden built in. Lastly, I have mixed feelings about the heat sensor...while for safety it is a good idea for the fan to come on if someone would forget to turn it on while cooking something that may fill the house with smoke, I do not like the fact that if one didn't turn the fan on and it senses heat and comes on even in the off mode that he/she would have to shut it off from the electrical breaker.

Thank you for taking the time to review your PM390 insert. We did want to mention the Heat Sentry feature will only come on when the hood detects excessive heat. If you use the hood every time you use the the cook top, you should experience the Heat Sentry very little. The hood will turn itself down or off when the heat has been removed from the cooking surface.

Have not had it long enough to really know about smoke and odor removal as we have been mostly grilling outside. Have used it for steam removal, etc. Would like it to be a bit quieter; not bad on low but noisy on high. And would like better light output but haven't found out if we can put in higher wattage. Difficult to get vent back in place after looking at lights, in fact have not been able to.

everything works great, but it's noisy, not a quite fan.
Description claimed "HeatSentry automatically turns blower to high speed when excess cooking heat is detected". to date we have not seen this work.

Functional but short lived

The PM390-HS worked well for the first 15 months of use before the electric motor that drives the fan started to make a loud squealing noise at all speeds.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This unit is solidly built and has a very appealing finish on it. The multiple fan speeds are very nice. My wife and I do not think the fan is too loud on its highest fan setting and it definitely cleared the air fast on one recent occasion that we needed it to. Others have commented about the lights not being bright enough. I would have to agree. Its not really the bulbs though. I think it is the position of the bulbs up in their housing. They are located close to the front of their housing and the light generated is cast down and back toward the wall rather than being cast more evenly over the entire stove top surface. If the lights lit up the whole stove top area, I would have given the "feature set" an "excellent" mark instead of the "good" mark I did. Overall though, we could not be happier with the choice we made. For what it cost us, I don't think we could have gotten a better one. Very satisfied with the purchase.
