My wife and I built our home from the ground up last year. This equipment literally broke one month after we moved in. The motor in the fan no longer worked after two months and we reached out to the builder which had no solutions for us regarding rectifying the matter.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This came with the house we had built. The fan does it job. However, it is very difficult to get the cover back on where the light bulbs go. Also, the damper is very loud when it close and the wind can cause it to open and close.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Unreliable

My house is seven years old, and I have had three of these fail since then. The fan motor progressively gets louder with a rattling sound at first and finally a high-pitched sound. I have never experienced a product as unreliable as this one.

noise level is ridiculous

Bought a name brand vent for new kitchen. The noise level on this Broan 390 cfm undermount is awful. It is so loud that is ridiculous.! stuck with this air plane noise. don't buy this one.

We appreciate your comments on the Broan PM390 power module. This model is rated at 390 cfm's with 6.0 sones. It does offer a three speed slide control, so by controlling the speed of the motor, you can only control the sound. This model should have a 6" round duct used for installation. Anything less will restrict air flow and increase the sound. If you have questions or concerns about your unit, please contact our Technical Support directly at 800-637-1453. Fan removes a good amount of air, smoke and cooking fumes, but is loud. Light is only on/off, no night light feature. Used it for only 3 months and some oil drops have formed and began dripping from motor housing thru the filter screen and onto cooktop. Not clear if the oil is from the fan motor or from cooking oil that collects in the fan blades and then flows into the fan housing and eventually leaks through the housing separation plane forming the drips of oil.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not installed properly by home builder...Fischer Homes. Only a third of screws used, which will be addressed at 30-day Warranty inspection. When blower is on, air flows back down. Also, the two light bulbs which came with the unit are such low wattage/voltage, they are extremely dim and virtually useless. Looked on line and to get a brighter bulb the cost is ridiculous. Brighter bulbs should have been included with the unit, as the included ones are USELESS.

Dont buy. Builder installed. Never performed well. Too noisy. Stopped working in 40 months. Last 8 months was huge noise. Replacing with different brand.
