Battery Doesn't Charge

When new, this vacuum did a decent job. However, after just a few uses, either the charger or the battery has stopped working correctly. After leaving it on the charger overnight, the vacuum only operates weakly for a few minutes. I would change the battery if I could, but that doesn't seem to be an option.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Battery stops holds its charge

This vacuum is really good at first. One of the best suction handhelds I ever used. However, after a year of usage, the battery stops holding its charge. Then you'll have about 15 seconds to use it each time. And there's no way to buy a replacement battery, making it useless and you having to buy a new one.
If there was a way to at least change the battery it would be 4 stars for me.

Over the years, I've had four or five makes and models of hand vacs. The Black & Decker Pivot has been the best. I like the lithium battery, 20 volt motor and the fact that it pivots to get into some areas that are not easy to clean. Emptying it is easy.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Poor battery

Bought this unit about 6 months ago and the battery is dying on me within 2 minutes of use after an overnight charge. Even when new the battery barely lasted 5 minutes before dying. I love the utility features but the best device is good only if it runs.

Battery wont stay running

I bought this in june of 2017 and for months now it only runs for like 15 or 20 seconds and stops. I dont use it that much for the battery to be dead. Wasnt cheapest shop vac and very angry that I cant use it for long enough to do much cleaning.

Max pivot handheld Vacuum

All the reviews are true.It is a fabulous handheld vacuum.Blows all the others away.You pay a little more than the others because of the lithium rechargeable battery that SHOULD last.NOT NOT NOT !!!!It is great when it is working EXCEPT after a year or so the battery starts to die.It no longer holds the charge.I understand,It is expected with rechargeable batteries like in laptops and cameras etc etc ...BUT NOT SO SHORT OF A LIFE SPAN.It was such a great vacuum and costly,I bought one as a gift for my mom.Hers died before mine and it was much newer.Mine lasted 18months and hers only 12months.The battery costs half the price of a new vacuum.Not to mention it is complicated to replace.For the price I would have thought it would last longer,The reason it has a 2 year warranty it seems cause it will die right at the expiration of the warranty.I have a stick a vacuum that is older and still running great.Black and Decker failed on this one.

Worked well when it worked but dead after 2 years

The vacuum worked great for two years. It had better suction than other hand vacs I've owned, including some from Black and Decker. However, after two years, the battery has failed and is effectively irreplaceable. Products like this are so wasteful for the environment and companies like B&D should be held to account for the waste they create with irreparable products. The next vacuum I get will have a replaceable battery.

I bought this vacuum, because in the past I have found Black and Decker makes very good products. This vacuum is strong -- it picks up a lot of dirt and lasts for a long time when charged. I gave a low rating, because I am disappointed that the side door is not latched, it just opens at any time, which then dumps the dirt all over. I was recently emptying the dirt into the garbage and the door just fell off. Now I have it attached with duct tape. I was going to get it repaired, but with the pandemic, that won't be happening any time soon.
