First, it's relatively quiet, given that the blades are cutting and moving quite a bit of air. Second, for its size, it does a good job circulating the air in our living room.
Both of those aspects makes it a great option for us when watching the TV, where we want air flow but not the noise of it.
And icing on the cake is that it's mostly made in the US. These days, sourcing and assembling everything in the US is a great idea, but not always practical. Vornado seems to be striking a reasonable balance with this product. That said, I'd love to see a 100% US made product.

I bought the Vornado because it is so energy efficient. I bought the 610 because is is made in the USA. It's great. I am very impressed. It works so well that I have rarely had to use it at a high setting, so I really AM getting the full energy savings that I wanted. Thank you for making a great product and for making it in America. Saving the planet is patriotic.

After the 210 I had stopped working after 14yrs I looked into getting another. I found out that they have improved immensely to the 610. It's very quiet and moves the air effectively. The 210 was a three speed where the 610 is a variable speed. Much nicer. A definite plus for me was the Made in the USA.

Excellent airflow, good controls, disappointing cord, and some unwanted noise

I've had this fan for nearly two years. It is a good fan with the airflow you would expect from Vornado. I very much like the simple control knob, and vertical swivel. It's simple and works they way you would expect.
However, I tend to move my fan somewhat often and the power cable comes loose with the slightest movement. It's not that the plug falls out, but it moves just enough to stop powering the fan and I have to press it back in. For many it's not likely a big deal, and it's great the cord can be replaced, but it's annoying for me.
Also, the fan makes a sort of "reverberation" sound when the speed gets turned up enough. For me it's just past half way. It's not a buzzing or rattle, but a deep humming sound that's not quite consistent enough to ignore.
Maybe I got unlucky, but I'll try a different Vornado model next time.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is smaller than my previous model, which died after 30 years of use, and moves more air. It moves air from the living room to the back of my ranch style house with ease keeping the whole house cool. and, it's much quieter than my previous model.
