It's only been a couple months, but I'm happy with it so far. Runs very quiet and everything is extremely frozen, as it should be! Seems like a good freezer for the price. Was happy to find the Amana brand...our old Amana refrigerator is 24 years old and still going strong!

Purchased this freezer three months ago an I love it. It is the perfect size for my family. I know that freezers are the most efficient when filled up, and this 5.3 cu. ft. model is filled to the top now and operates very well even in the warm months. Simple design and easy to set up and operate. I would recommend this model to my friends.

I love how it has 2 lights on the front panel. One tells you the freezer is on and the other comes on only when the compressor is running.

My research prior to buying ranked this highest among chest freezers this size. True as this may be, its missing needed features and has other drawbacks as well. I guess someone decided small should also be economical, but for us, small was necessary, and we would have gladly paid more for more features. For instance, ice accumulates by the lid, so why isn't there a heat element there to prevent this? The freezer needs a bigger basket and maybe some shelves. As it is, the basket is tiny and everything else can only be stacked one atop another starting at the bottom. Why not some shelves or baskets (at different heights) for better organization? And when you add things to freeze, where can you put them to keep separate from already frozen things, so as not to cause any thawing of the frozen things? Seems to me more thinking should have gone into the design, or maybe offer some options for those who are willing to pay extra.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
