Even though we're on a tight budget, we paid another $100 in order to get a GE instead of a comparable different brand because we've had such good luck with past GE purchases. We did have a problem with the door handle breaking, but a repairman fixed it free of charge. He also checked the occasional motor noises & explained why it happens. It's never caused a problem. We are thrilled with our new roomy refrigerator. It replaced a larger different brand & seems to actually hold more!
After much research, I bought this model 2 wks ago and am really glad I did. My kitchen is really small. This fridge fit perfectly & has great features too. One temp control works perfectly. Maintains 0 in freezer & 38 in fresh food section, even on the door. Is very quiet when not cycling. Freezer has no light and it is NOTmissed nor is the auto ice cube maker. Full-width, adjustable glass shelves & deep door shelves provides lots of room for everything. Humidity adjusters in fruit & veggie drawers really work to keep produce from getting soppy. Owners manual is really helpful as it is written in a clear manner (on recycled paper in the USA no less). Good job GE!
This fridge is basic with plenty of room for food for a couple of people. After having gone through 2 with freezers on the bottom that died prematurely plus being very noisey & expensive, this one seems like what we should've bought in the first place.
I have only had this for a month but am quite satisfied with it so far; will try to update later after more time passes. Unit I received is nowhere as noisy as people complain. The compressor of the new fridge I bought before this one died after three months so I bought this ge instead. This is just basic refrigerator but so far so good, has done what it is supposed to do though nothing more; keeping my fingers crossed. Freezer has no light. There is no separate temperature controller for freezer and fridge. Tips for noise reduction; perhaps it is due to ice build up so keep humidity as low as possible in fridge and freezer; no open liquid containers; open and close fridge as quickly as possible. Do not leave door open for extended time. If you live on coast or humid area like Houston then you are out of luck
